Hey guys. audi wouldnt fix my window trim under any of my packages... the window trim on my car is cloudy, swirly, and only shiny in very few spots. has anyone had success cleaning it with anything? Nothing I use seems to work and I hear it is a common problem.

    Cheers -

I think someone said diluted vinegar works since it may just be hard water deposits.

    Chrome window trim.

Hard water probably. I actually don't mind if mine would go more towards the "matte" aluminum color lol. I can't stand how much the trim sticks out on my deep sea blue. I'm planning to wrap it very soon once I can find a shop and do it on my day off.

What color is your S5? The trim doesn't bother me nearly as much on silver or white exteriors. It's more muted.

Speaking of trim I have to go Wednesday to get a new driver side trim put on. When I had my little mishap a bit ago the shop reused the trim and they are one time use I think as they are riveted in. It started to pop up slightly at the end of the door and was driving my OCD nuts. I'm sure it will be new and "bling'd" out lol.

    Vanimal!

This is your chance to replace with OEM black optic trim. Your black trim will be legit and longer lasting compared to wrap. You'll just have to pay for the other side out of pocket. Unless the trim only comes in pairs, in which case, you'll only have to pay labor on the other side.

FWIW: I personally think the bright trim looks fantastic against dark colors. One of the best lines on the car in my opinion. If it were my car I would wrap the RS5 grille in chrome around the outside edge to match the window trim. But that's just me, if you're dead set on black trim, this may be a good opportunity.

My apologies to OP for going off topic.

The trim installation is a pain in the ass. I thought about swapping my chrome trim to BO trim. Then I looked it up and I said nope.

I couldn't agree more, especially with bright wheels. The blacked out look is just timeless and safe.

Pull it and paint it. I did it with some plastic pry tools and drilling rivets. Not nearly as bad as you'd think. Had it painted at the body shop for 75 dollars. It's hot

Before you do anything drastic try this..

I only had a few faded spots but this worked very well and seems to last and protect.

Definitely is not one time use.. 9 rivets along the upper piece inside the door behind your rubber seals. The rest literally pops out with some plastic pry tools. You can drill out he rivets and put new ones in their place.

I am just going off what the body shop guy said. Oh well they ordered me a new one and they are going to install it lol. I have a picture where it was "slightly" lifted on the very edge of the door. I will have to find it on my phone.

No DIY, I have a friend that works in the body shop and we did it all on a Saturday morning. He mainly works on domestics but knew what he was doing and it went super smooth. If you decide to tackle it just PM me and I'll try to help best I can. I should've taken pictures but I did not.

I dropped my car off today to get the new door trim put on. They said they had to take the door off to do it. I guess this is the case?

Lol, they wasted their time I guess haha. New trim is fitted perfect now compared to the last. I'm a happy camper. It drove me insane looking out my side mirror and seeing the trim slightly off at the doors edge.
