    Good evening,

I have an issue with when I drive my car park it do my errands get back in and start it there is a gas smell. It happens every time I park and come back out within 5-30 mins.

Have noticed this since the temperature has fallen to 50-60*

Any help with this will be great.

Only changes to the car I have done is a K&N air filter.

    Thanks in advance!😉

Experienced the exact same thing over the summer. They ended up replacing the fuel pump. Problem solved.

Take it in ASAP. My service agent would not let me leave with the car until it was repaired because she believed it was a dangerous state for the vehicle to be in. Makes sense, leaking fuel and all.

Do you happen to remember if it was the high-pressure (on the engine) or low-pressure (in the tank, I think?) pump?

I've been having the same problem on and off recently and have looked at the HP pump, but can't see any signs of leakage.

Most likely the HPFP in the engine bay. Remove the plastic engine, and you'll find your HPFP at the rear of your cylinder head cover. Look for any "weeping" or "sweating". Whe. This happens, fuel vapour gets pulled in at start up by the recirc vent which is off to the left.

I'm going to say most likely no? When I had this problem recently and replaced my HPFP, the engine didn't run any differently.

Of course there are a bunch of places fuel can leak, but I can tell you from experience the HPFP can be tricky. Mine would not leak the moment the car was shut off... I didn't "catch it in the act" until I came back and checked about 20 minutes after the car had been shut off. 30-45 minutes after the car was shut off the leak was worse.

One telltale sign is brown deposits on the pump from evaporating gas. They can be a little hard to distinguish from rust, but brake or carburetor cleaner will remove them and of course will not remove rust so that's one way to tell.
