Best zero to sixty (so far)...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So this is my personal best 0-60 time to date, always run on the same stretch of road not sure exactly how flat the road is but it looks fairly flat

Any way guys I'm curious as to what some of your best times are?

    Cheers

'13 S6 I have done a bunch of stuff to the car but the relevant stuff here is EPL stage one ECU/TCU plus a water meth kit. The W/M kit is still in the process of being tuned I keep getting a CEL (0243) waste gate opens and dumps all the boost pressure but once it is all dialed in I'm hoping (hoping) for anywhere from 3.0 to 3.2 dead.
As a side note micky I'm in Houston too and once the W/M kit is sorted I'm looking to take my car to the Baytown drag strip would you be up for that?

    Cheers

Absolutely RtryKrack the more the merrier we'll have to get all the people on here from Houston and arrange a meet up. I believe that the Baytown track is open every Friday night not %100 on that but I'm sure we could sort something, should be fun!

I'd like to bring my S8 out to play with you S6/7 guys at any H-town drag strip meet. Baytown is fun for private rentals but Fridays out there are terrible (overrun by slow pickups). I like HMP (1/8 mile) for Friday nights as you can get a ton of runs in and still race up to about 100 mph. I am trying to get in on an upcoming private Baytown rental, but it looks like that will be a rain out. I'm anxious to get out with a new setup and set some personal bests.

Anyway, this meth setup sounds intriguing. Last we looked at that it seemed necessary to spray pre-intercooler because of the integrated intake manifold against the engine block. AS6, are you spraying pre-intercooler? Did a shop develop your kit/install? If this works I wanna get mine done.

I'm spraying post intercooler that's what was recommended to me as pre doesn't allow the inter cooler to do its job properly. I can say it seems to be working ok post. I'm using a Aquamist HSF-4 kit.
I believe that 1/8th is over a on my side of town, let me know when your going and we can try to get a small group of Audi guys together.
So what's your new set up then? What kind of 1/4 - 1/8th and 0-60 times are you putting down? Sounds like you might have to go easy on us lesser S model guys!

    Cheers

I would definitely be up for that. Haven't been to the Baytown strip in about 8 years. Unfortunately my car is still a ways from it's delivery date. Maybe I can borrow a car out of my Dad's garage to tag along. Keep me posted on dates!

It's sold, still in my garage though. Goes to new owner this Saturday

I had an EPL tune on the S4 and was a fan of their tunes and their customer service. I'm still considering tunes for the S6 but they are at the top of the list right now. Would make my decision easier if you could give me some feedback, possibly even see the car at some point in the next few months.

Sure just let know what kind of feedback you are after. It looks like we have at least a few people interested in going to a drag strip in the area just need to sort out a date to meet up.

Aww, you must share details on the meth setup. Did you do this yourself? Where exactly is your jet tapped? http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ction-for-4-0T

I ran a 10.95@ 126 with a tune only on the 100 map. Since then I've added 3" downpipes and full 3" dual exhaust, the APR stage 2 tune, new Michelin PSS tires, and some ebay cone intake filters. At this power level I'm convinced that the stock dual 2.5" exhaust with the quiet S8 chambered mufflers was a restriction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_PVXvHkr-Vs I'm hoping for deeper 10s in the 1/4 and 6s in the 1/8 (maybe even on 93 octane) but it's just speculation until I get a new number. It does have a ton more low-end torque now so I'm hoping the new tires grip and get me a good 60ft.

I'm in the Sugar Land/Missouri City area. You?

I guess I am looking for performance and all around daily driving feedback from the tune. Are you running their TCU tune as well? I've only had a ride in a stage 1 APR S6 with no TCU tune. It was a brief ride but was quite impressive.

That's very impressive! What do you think your looking at now about a 10.5 maybe?
I absolutely will share all the details about my set up and post some pictures once the tune is complete, I'm just waiting on EPL now. I've got to say though the car feels FAST I don't have any numbers yet apart from the 0-60 but hopefully soon. We will definitely have to arrange a trip to a strip though. Which strip did you post that 10.95? And what part of the city are you in?

    Cheers

Before the meth kit with just the tune the car felt good performance wise, I have both the ECU and TCU tune drivability I would say is every bit as good as stock.
I'm in the energy corridor, if your in the area we can meet up somewhere and you can check out the car no problem just let me know.

Thanks guys. I'm up in The Woodlands area. The 10.95 was at Baytown on a negative density altitude night last winter. It did spin a bit on that run on the 1-2 shift and only cut a 1.74 60ft, so that was perfect weather but not a perfect run. Back in 2013, APR ran a 10.6@130 in a 4.0T S8 with cat deletes and a 104 octane tune. That was with about 650 AWHP. APR won't give me the 104 tune yet (even though they keep promising), and I don't know if I can get to that level on a 100 tune. You know how it goes about expecting a number and coming up short. I can only hope to improve on my previous numbers. But I think it's making 30-40 more wheel hp now.

Sure, any APR dealer can flash it back to stock for a nominal labor charge. But he won't be able to recuperate any of his investment if he goes that route. He may also run into TD1/warranty issues with the flash.

Tell him to look into EPL. Their claim to fame is that you can sell the flash to someone else which you can't do with APR. That may be the better option for a lessee.

EPL tuning allows the tune to be sold when you're done with it.

Isn't the v-box supposed to be the most accurate? What's the feedback on the P3 gauge in terms of accuracy?

When I first got my S6 bone stock just flooring the gas I measured ~5.0 seconds 0-60 using VCDS. I thought that seemed kind of slow so I bought a VBOX Sport. Guess what, I measured the same times just flooring the gas on the same stretch of road. The test was not side by side but same method and same stretch of road. So VCDS seems pretty accurate and I would assume other OBD2 tools with high refresh rates would be pretty accurate as well. Anyway, now that I have APR ECU/TCU stage 1.1 I get about 3.8-4.0 seconds just flooring the gas and ~3.5 seconds using break boost with transmission in S, all stability controls off, but in individual mode so not a true launch control.

Good info. Why haven't you attempted using launch control?

As a side note micky I'm in Houston too and once the W/M kit is sorted I'm looking to take my car to the Baytown drag strip would you be up for that?

Slowly working my way up to it. Also, need to find a quiet place with ample time to get all the steps just right. Busy NJ public roads during my evening commute don't often provide that opportunity and I'm not keen on getting a ticket either.

The p3 takes its data straight from the ECU so whatever that sees that's what the p3 sees. I would have to say that it's pretty accurate, if you trust what your speedometer is telling you then you have to trust what the p3 is telling you also, but I could of course be wrong?

Thanks Tony, Steve also mentioned about opening up the windows and possibly turning up the gain? I know the logs I sent today were no good I will try again tomorrow hopefully vcds will record the data properly this time.
It is nice to know that the fail safe(s) work though.
Thanks for you help today Tony!

Friday weather looks exceptional for Baytown. I'm considering going just to get a number, not necessarily for a good race (never happens).

I'm curious to see what you run. I wonder if APR's Stage 2 S8 software is now on par with the beta software they did a few years ago. Something tells me the old beta 104 tune is a tad stronger than the new Stage 2 100 octane tune considering there was obviously power left on the table from 100 to 104 octane otherwise they wouldn't have bothered with the 104 program...

I'm guessing the beta 104 would add another 10 wheel HP. The reported numbers I dug up for the beta 104 (with catless downpipes) were 647/706 at the wheels, and the reported numbers for stage 2 100 octane with the new downpipes are 637/697 at the wheels. Different days and probably different cars and dynos.

I've been trying to get that old beta 104 tune; APR says they will give it to me but it's been in the queue for some kind of uploading for months. I'm just moving on for now. Wouldn't make a world of difference.

I would love to come along and get a number myself but unfortunately my car is still not ready I'm still getting a CEL from the W/M kit it keeps triggering the fail safe, I sent over a log last week to EPL but have yet to here back from them. I can't risk taking it to the strip yet my car will either perform poorly or I might damage it, as soon as everything is dialed in and working properly I will be there and hopefully post some decent numbers.

    Cheers
