    2012 A4 B8 - trunk won't open

Ok, this is really idiotic of me, but I can't figure out a solution yet. I was installing the CarsGadget rear backup camera when it started to drizzle. I was packing everything up, and reflexively just closed the trunk without reconnecting the negative first, so there's no battery power. Stupid. The trunk release inside the drivers door and the electronic key obviously aren't working. This is the 2012 base model and the rear seats don't recline, so I can't crawl through and hit the trunk release. The small (key?) opening near the trunk handle is too small for the actual key to fit.

    Any ideas?

If I hook another car up with jumper cables to the terminals under the hood, would this provide enough juice to trigger the trunk release? Or would that be a really terrible idea because the negative is off the battery in the trunk?

Ah, pg 45 of the manual, "Luggage compartment lid emergency release."

Yeah, I think they stopped that on the Premium trim line in 2011. Bummer, but it didn't really matter to me when I bought it. My other car is a Subaru Outback so I didn't really have a need for the folding seats.

BTW, it worked fine. Just lift up the rear bench on the driver's side. The cord is attached with a little strip of velcro. Pull it out, give a firm pull, and the trunk pops open.

Do you have valet mode activated? It is a button in the glove compartment. When activated, it disables the trunk. Maybe you have already checked this though...

Oh didn't see that you disconnected the battery. Sorry...

Normally if you pull out the rear seats you would break a few clips.Audi was really stupid to not have folding rear seats on all of the B8 model cars.

Don't pull out, just lift up on the bottom part. A bit of resistance but, no clips broken. Easy to put back in. I agree, I'd rather have folding though.

Install of rear camera took longer than expected but was more or less smooth. I need to pick up a triple square bit to actually remove the rear seats to get the cable to be completely hidden.
