    JHM Stage 2 exhaust question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
This is a repeat post from another thread, but is anyone running a JHM stage 2 tune with an obx exhaust?

I know that they're a little restrictive and fit/finish isn't the greatest, but they're stupid cheap on eBay atm (<$400 for full exhaust w/ downpipe) so is it worth a shot ordering that now, or should I just suck it up and get the JHM y-pipe and wait until an s4 cat back eventually pops up locally?

Personally, I would wait for the second option.

I am running JHM stage 2 93 octane with a JHM test pipe and full stasis cat back. I am seriously considering the Y pipe, and OEM exhaust.

Have JHM 91 stg 2 tune with their TP->DP-Y->B6 S4 CB and no complaints. Drove 4 hrs at 80mph with no drone. Got my B6 S4 CB for $60 though! Like what they've said, go with DP-Y

Thanks for the quick responses guys. That's pretty much what I expected to hear. If I went with the obx I'd probably end up regretting not waiting to get the JHM+OEM S4 setup in the long run...

I'm running full stasis cat back as well and living in colorado I have to live with 91 octane... Either way, for stage 2 91 octane do you think I actually need the JHM test pipe? I'm a huge fan of the stasis exhaust but I feel like I would regret the test pipe. That being said, how do you like the sound of the test pipe paired with the stasis exhaust?

You wont regret the turbo spooling of a testpipe. Only 3 type of people run HFC's. One's that cant pass state emissions, other are pussies that are afraid to their cars , then there's the green earth people. If your a go green person. Why even get a tune for your car............

Yeah, I'm just worried about being a rice cannon. Stasis has the refinement I want but I also don't mind the snap crackle and pop that sounds like an RS6. But an actual RS6 can be refined, but I feel like with a test pipe it will always be screaming at me ITS TIME TO RACE even at 1500 RPM.

Nah, the test pipe and Stasis setup sounds good. It's loud, but. It the worst. I have to pass provincial emission as well, and have no problems (ODB only) so they don't visual or sniffer anymore.

I love the performance as well. The K03 spools up incredibly quickly and doesn't really fall off until late. Ask CanadianA4B7 what he thinks (and he's big turboed after running a K04)...

It really doesn't smell as badly as people piss and moan about either. As a farmer, I'm allowed to get a pass on the environmental detriments of removing the cat, because I plant crops which remove hydrocarbons. (I'm toying with the idea of building two green houses and piping the exhaust of a generator into one, with the goal of finding out how much more quickly those plant will grow).

So yeah, just do a test pipe and be ready for a lot more pull.

I passed NJDMV thru official state run facilities twice. So thats 4 years with 2 year valid inspection stickers. APR KO4 tune deletes the rear o2 readiness sensor circuit. But in NJ your allowed to fail 1 of the 4 OBD2 readiness test. If your going JHM tune they keep the rear o2 circuit alive and you o2 rear spacer bung to keep the cel off

I loved the way my stock KO3 spooled. faster then anything out there... Just doesnt have the low end I want when ing
    .....

I try to justify in my head with the testpipe greenhouse effects. I do alot of mandatory recycling. So that will wash each other out.........

A testpipe will out spool any and all HFC's on the market. And thats a fact Jack.....

Get the ebay pipe. It will be fine. The aftermarket exhausts arn't very restrictive in general.

A FYI for anyone in general. The factory 2.0T B7 A4 cat back exhaust system is low restrictive flowing system. Just has some weight to it with boring exhaust tips. Once the stock catalytic converter is for a testpipe or a hfc. A bigger DP would be nice for spooling of the turbo

I feel it's worth the pull now, I'll give it a try. But I doubt I'll pass emission where I live. If not just do the work again and put the factory back on.

I wasn't too worried about the smell all that much but people won't stop bitching about it.. That's actually a pretty cool idea you're toying with. There has to be research done by some university with the same parameters. Try searching some public domains and see if you can find any journals or notes on studies like that. (You'll most likely just find out how to properly ventilate weed crops...)

If it's visual, weld the catalytic heat shield onto the text pipe and eff them. If it's a sniffer, maybe throw some fabreese into the mufflers (kidding).

Yeah, I'm basing this off of science. If you planted trees in Mars, they'd grow at 50x the rate on earth because of the extremely high carbon to oxygen ratio couple with the lower gravity. If you factor for earth's gravity; they should grow at 20x with the same carbon rush atmosphere. I know, I'm a kook; it's a Canadian thing.

As an aside; Canadian forests filter out 11.3x the hydrocarbons we produce annually. You're welcome hydrocarbon rich American friends...
