Random Question: Moving a Twin Mattress

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Does anyone know if I can move a twin mattress with the Q5? Any recommendations on the best way to do it?

The standard twin mattress is 75" x 38" and probably 12-18" deep. I read the cargo area can be as long as 67", but it wasn't clear to me how far up the seats are then. I unfortunately don't have access to my car easily, so I can't go and measure for myself. Does anybody know the actual cargo dimensions with the front seat still in a reasonable position? Or has anybody actually moved a twin mattress? I'm guessing I might be able to tilt it up to get it to fit but not positive.

If it doesn't fit inside, I guess I could tie it to the roof, but I'm not super excited about that. Do I leave the roof bars on to do that? I'm not sure about weight limits for the bars.

You should be able to fit it .... if it bends a slight bit.

Drop the passenger side seat , drop the rear seats and remove the boot cover ... about a month ago i managed to fit a treadmill and a folded elliptical in it ... now I would suggest strongly that u get a good fluffy blanket on the door trims so that they don't get scratches if the mattress moves to around .

As long as there's no box spring, you should be able to cram it in there.

I just checked with my better half, and apparently we need the box spring as well. I know that won't fit, so I guess I'm buying my buddy with a pickup truck dinner to help me go pick it up! Thanks for the feedback guys.

You could stuff the mattress inside and strap the box spring onto the roof.

Yeah I think that would work. I'm going to just avoid the potential tragedy though and buy my buddy a non-Kobe steak LOL.
