    Please Help! A4 is leaking!!!

First I apologize if this thread has been posted a million times before.

I purchased a 2004 A4 1.8t less than a month ago from a used auto dealer in my local city and since day one of owning it, its been leaking. I've taken the car back to the dealership twice now so they can have their mechanic take a look, and I feel like Im just being dicked around. After sending the vehicle in the first time, they told me that "everything should be good" and the car should not be leaking anymore. When I asked them about what exactly was done to the car, the sales rep had no clue. Took the vehicle home and next morning, bam, the car was still leaking in the exact same spot.
So I took the car back to the dealership, told them the issue and they brought it in for service. I called them the next day to see what the status of my car is. They told me they had to order a new part for me and that they would have it installed the next day. What that part was I wish i knew because when I asked them over the phone what needed to be replaced, the sales rep had no idea because I was talking to someone else. Again no indication about the part they ordered and what needed to be fixed. When I picked up the car today after the second time bringing back to the dealer the sales guy told me that after the new part was installed the shop ran tests to see if it would leak with the engine off, on idle and after driving. He told me that the car passed and was NOT leaking at all. Later when I finished work today I took a look underneath the car and what do you know....its still freaking leaking.

Now the guy at the dealership told me that the car might still leak from the old oil or whatever and to give it a few days to see if its actually stopped. Is that even possible? lol How can a car still have oil leaking from the "old leak" if the parts have been replaced and the car has been serviced?

Here is a pic of where the car is leaking exactly. Not the greatest pic I know, but to give you an idea, it seems to be just to the left of the tranny right under that seal that you see. Any general idea on how to fix this? what needs to be fixed? approximate cost? I haven't been charged a dime on all the "repairs" and "Servicing" thats been done so far and to be quite honest I shouldnt be charged at all, but it really is a nuisance going back and forth to the dealer and being car-less for days. Not to mention I absolutely love this car to death. Anything advice or tips would be extremely helpful at this point.

    Thanks Audizine...

That looks to be in the general area of the front differential. That flange you see should be going to the left side front axle.

Instead of taking to a sales rep, maybe get the service rep on the phone, or if possible, the person doing the service.

It's good you're not being charged and it's being covered under some sort of limited warranty, but you still do have a right to know what is being fixed, or what work has been done thus far.

Thanks egovreau, I will give them a call tmrw and ask for the name of the shop.
I do remember the first person I talked to mention to me that something was leaking from the front differential drive side axle.
Any idea how much this would cost to repair? Honestly, I might just take the car to a Euro garage in my city to just get it fixed and over with.

Kind of ridiculous customer service if you ask me, not to mention this is costing them money as well...

Fortunately, or unfortunately, I haven't had that problem yet, so I don't know the scope of the repairs. Removing an axle is surprisingly easy, but not sure how difficult it is to replace the seal.

I'll be damned if I can find the book rate on alldatadiy for this (worthless site anyway). Probably an hour to 90 minutes. The seal is cheap. Take out axle, pull out the flange. Pry out old seal. Use tool to drive new seal in straight. Put back the flange, axle, and tire. I'm pretty sure that's all that's required. This job is somewhere on my list of maintenance. I haven't been able to locate the tool yet. Click.

I kinda suspected it might be as simple as that, relatively speaking. I just didn't want to speak out of turn without actually looking into it.
