    Meth Plate install

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Installed a throttle body meth plate on my B8 and another B8.5 today.

    Made by Wizard-of-OD / iABED.

It has two 1/8 NPT taps at 90 degrees apart for either flexibility or future expansion.

One tap is plugged. Plug was provided with the kit as well as gaskets and new mounting screws.

To install you just remove the 4 mounting screws. Remove the existing spacer and replace with this one. You will need a 90 degree nozzle adaptor if you are running the AEM kit. There is very little room to actually put nozzles in. https://store.034motorsport.com/wate...apter-90d.html

You might also be able to use the top, but you'd have to bend or cut the bracket that holds the evap purge valve.

It's actually pretty stealth now. We opted to put the nozzle on the front side at about a 30 degree downward angle. It sits just behind the passenger side intercooler housing now.

I think he has some in stock and ready to ship.

Very nice, love that it's so stealth.

Re visit old post. How do you think spray pattern is with 90 angle like that. Seems like it would be spaying into a wall and not misting correctly

His nozzle is ponting into the throttle body, its a 90 deg adapter that you see.

thank you for sharing the picture! I like how you mount the tank and pump. Didn't know it has that much room in there. Did you need to move anything to fit the tank in?

Please keep the update coming, and good luck with your finals.

The alarm horn(you can see it mounted to the right of the tank) used to be where the pump is.

I had to cut a bit off the cabin intake snorkel thing.

Tubes are ran out the grommet right below the tank.

this is a common spot to inject, the mist is so fine that there are no issue.

Theres 4 or 5 of you now running this pre blower setup right? Out of curiousity do you find a need for any increased cooling with running meth? With meth how high can your IATs now get completely maxed? Do you feel its been daily driver reliable as well?

I've stopped testing the meth for now until I flash my new tune.

I keep the meth off daily driving as I don't need it. I have a switch in my center console that I can hit that will engage the system.

I posted this somewhere else but here are results for a third back-to-back-to-back 4th gear pull on the Dyno:

This was spraying a 50/50 w/m blend, I've noticed slightly better cooling with the 60/40 blend I'm currently running.

I'd probably use it on every drive. When I use this car I tend to go WOT pretty much every drive. I dont have a lot of highway commutes at all. I appreciate the feedback. I'm wondering if it would be a daily driver reliable option for me or if I should just stick to maximizing the air to waters.

I can keep the meth kit on 24/7 with the only downside being I am filling the tank up more often.

My IATs in the current weather doesn't get over 60c commuting even with the occasional WOT pull so I don't bother. During the summer this may change but we will see.

I'm still kicking this around, but I don't know that I see the benefit, yet.

Are you guys also using check valves to stop scavenging? If no, you might want to think about that.

    Whiped,

Do you find that with it off all the time and on a switch now you still see as much of a gain when you turn it on and stomp on it. I guess I hear the car learns and is constantly adapting so do you lose some of that by not have it on all the time?

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Love the tank and pump. The old B5 had the orgional. Devils own, wasn't bad but only issue was blowing through the tank in like 4 strong pulls.

Is Tony (EPL) working on one of his injection demand kits? That's the way to go instead of boost demand

The check valve is the long black thing you see in the picture. The nozzle threads into that... or in this case... the nozzle and check valve thread into each side of the 90*.

AEM Nozzle has a built in check valve, I have not noticed any scavenging yet but putting in a solenoid to be safe might be wise.

It bogs a bit if you flip the switch then slam on it. A pull or two is all it takes to adjust.

I'll be doing a whole bunch of logging again once I put the new tune on. For now, I'm just enjoying the car and playing catch up on installs.

I posted this in one of the other threads but I was amazed at how much a single tank cleaned out the supercharger.

Then I stop and think... all that just went through the charger and into the engine.

See I'm thinking the engine bay generates quite a significant amount of heat and with the air filter being so close to the engine bay with most of our open elements, even with a heat shield, it doesn't keep all the hot air out. I know it would be closer to ambient while driving but I'm curious just how much of that engine heat we are sucking up.

Says Air Temp on the gauge
Yea the only one I see is ambient temp which is probably that one u have but are you sure it's not just the cars ambient air temp sensor that gives us the outside temp and that it might go up a bit when you are stopped as well?

Actually a quick test I will do when I get out is ill pick that guage on torque and then I'll unplug our cars outside temp or just wrap my hand around it and see if it changes on torque.

I thought that, but the temp on the dash doesn't go up with it.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was reading the pre charger temp as the P3 does the same
