    Question Nissan RB26 R32 Turbo's on 2.7t?

    Hi Audizine community,

    Given that some of you have used Garrett GT turbos on their 2.7T motors, has anyone tried this older style Garrett based turbo [or similar] from a R32 Nissan Skyline GTR (RB26Dett 2.6L Turbo motor)?:

    Model = 14411-05u22
    These have an 11-blade turbine wheel inside a 0.48 A/R exhaust housing and the Compressor says "Garrett A/R 42 M24"

    The thought of rebuilding these turbos with an updated billet compressor wheel and wpc-metal-treated journal bearings occurred because it has a smaller exhaust housing than the GT25's (0.64 A/R exhaust turbine housing) which should help it spools slightly faster. So, what do you experienced Audi 2.7t users think: How would this turbo would match a 2.7t motor that revs to 7446 rpm?

    and yes, I realize different exhaust manifold flanges would be needed for these to work.

    The R32 and R33 turbos have ceramic turbine wheels. While they spool fantastic, they blow up past 1.4bar, the turbine just snaps off. The later R34 ones had metal turbines. In my opinion those turbos are old and useless. This is coming from someone who owned a 1990 GTR.

    Exactly what I was going to mention, good old ceramic turbine wheel. What exactly where the advantages of ceramic?

    Weight, lighter wheel = faster spool.

    The op did mention upgrading the wheels to a billet wheel.

    he mentioned only new compressor, not new turbine.

    Those are the same turbos that PES used in their T28 kit on the old B5 A4. For the power you make, they wouldn't be very responsive. You would need custom wastegates to make higher boost and after all of the other trouble to fit them, you're likely better off going with another, more efficient route.
