Custom exhaust question. Has anyone done this on the S4?

Every post I've seen on custom / aftermarket exhausts on the S4 always has separate pipes running from each bank, for the most part only joined with an X-pipe.

Has anyone ever done an exhaust where piping would run from each bank and join into a single pipe where the X-pipe would normally sit, run down the length of the car, and split out again at the rear of the car.

Like so...


My B8 3.0 V6 TDI ran a single pipe which split at the rear of the car, and it sounded amazing. Sounded like a mix of VR6 and Nissan GTR, which always got me compliments.
Obviously in that car, the exhaust exited from the single turbo, which was why it ran single pipe, but I'm very curious to know if anyone has done this on the S4?

I would have to think that this would be horrible for back pressure, as you're basically jamming all of that pressure from two Downpipes, down to a single channel then opening it up again. Not good Laminar flow :-/ You always want a good laminar flow.
