How To Replace 2016 S7 Facelift Stock Grill With RS7 Honeycomb Grill

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
If you are thinking about converting from your stock S7 grill to the RS7 style grill then this is for you. I have a few other threads on this topic but now that my project has been completed with the best possible fitment, here is the summary.

I originally tried the OEM RS7 Grill ($1,700) and discovered it just can’t be installed securely (although it can be installed). Jkwelsh has the best thread on this topic. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...Picture-Heavy)

I then painted the stock grill black, which looked much better but it is the same as the A7 stock grill. See this thread for more information. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...-S7-(Facelift).

Finally after waiting several months ECS offered the first after market RS7 style grill to fit the S7. See the 08-27-2016 10:09 AM post on this thread as a start. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...S7-(Facelift).

This thread is the conclusion of this project with another “major tip” that will make this conversion look like it came from the factory and provide the best fitment.

Before the ECS grill is installed you need to decide if 1) you are going to remove the foam that attaches to the crash bar and paint it black or 2) leave the foam and paint or cover it. The benefit of leaving the foam is that it presses up against the back of the grill for a lot more stability, which is how it’s installed at the factory on an RS7.

I tried painting the foam, which worked OK but it was just not factory and it was more obvious than a stock RS7 grill. The idea of having a piece of foam exposed to the elements (behind the grill) on the front of the car was just “wrong.”

I discovered the RS7 uses a black plastic cover that wraps the foam, presses up against the grill and nearly makes the crash bar disappear. The part was $110 and was an almost perfect fit. The only modification needed was trimming about 3/8” of foam off the front, which provided the space necessary for a tight fit. It even has bolt holes for attachment to the crash bar.

Here are pictures of the Before and After. It just makes the S7 look “bad ass” from the front.

Hello, does anyone know where to get the RS7 grill for a 2016 A7. The site mentioned in the threads don't carry a 2016. Also there a million of dealers on Ebay, which seems a bit much. Just looking for someone reputable.

    Thanks

Here’s the (corrected) link to my RS7 grill install: Here

There are a lot of copy RS7 grills around now. If your not sure about eBay, a lot of people have used these guys here, who ship to the US.

    Thanks RAF.
They only have the RS7 with the Quattro at the bottom. I'm leaning towards the full look.

    Can anyone else provide feedback?

    Thanks

how long did it take? can you swap out the rings with black ones also?

I much prefer the one that says Quattro, but they are both a major improvement. Looks like it might help cooling a bit also.

You can swap out rings easily. I actually sourced a new set of rings from eBay for 15$ and sprayed them matte grey and I love it and
