    2012 GEN 1.5 DSG in 2011?

Hey I was wondering if anybody has done this or knows if it would work? My dsg (90,000KM) is super clunky on the 2-1 downshift in traffic and my friend is selling a 2012 DSG (gen 1.5) with 40k on it (25k miles) for $700.00. I know '12s still have mech trouble but to a lesser extent for $700 with the revised tranny I'm thinking I might roll the dice.

I don't see why you couldn't run it. The TCU should be with the trans itself, so no special flashing or nothing. I can't tell you if there's other external revisions, but I know the newer ones had an external line filter as well, so with those, the lines/hoses on the drivers side of the housing will be slightly different, but clearance should be fine under the car. It's something to look at... take a look at his and your side by side (or at least in person and then get under your car and see if there's any physical differences.
