took the car for a 30 minute run temperature still at 50 (cold) Heater warm.
Got back home left the car running took the hose of at the heater matrix with the pin hole. Put the heaters to hottest setting and full speed
Ran the car for ten minutes no sign of any water coming out of that hole or bubbles, Took the expansion tank of and lifted it as high as it would go for 5 minutes still no water.
Switched the car off took the cap off the expansion bottle and after about two seconds there was a good flow of water came out.

    Is my water pump gone?

Top of the engine is not hot, you can put your hand on it

Any help on this i'm lost

lift your expansion tank a few inches .. then just keep filling it till it comes out of the bleed hole . don't worry about overfilling expansion tank, I use the one on the coolant pipe and never have an issue .

your, radiator could also be clogged, has this car ever had headgasket sealer run through it or green coolant, that can gum it up pretty bad when mixed with g12. Carefully check to see if there is a hot side and cold side to your radiator.
Never argue with an idiot, they'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

If the radiator was blocked wouldn't it overheat?

    Thanks for the replies guys

No green coolant as far as I know, Very little difference in temperature from one side to the other. It's the same temperature as the coolant hoses.

It was coming up with a engine cts fault code so that was changed for a genuine Audi part. It is still coming up with the same fault code, could a air lock at the sensor cause this fault code?

Did a live data scan and it comes up with the same temperature as what the gauge is reading?

Took the car out today for a 30 minute drive. With the engine running pulled back the bleeder hose on the heater matrix and a good steady flow of coolant came out. No sign of any air

if you have the air bled out now you likely have a blockage some place like as mentioned the rad maybe.

I had this issue on my Audi 90 and I never did fix it . would not pump coolant through heater core at idle. Eventually got fed up and sold the car.. only thing I did not do was replace the rad so maybe worth a look.
