    8V A3 need battery coding?

Hey all, I searched first and couldn't find an answer to this. I know my B8 S4 is supposed to have the battery coded in, but is that the case for my 8V/MQB A3 as well? The thing already died on my 2015 and I swapped in a Autozone battery since the closest dealer to me is 100 miles away. It runs fine, but I don't know if it is charging properly since the B8's are supposed to run fine too for a while. Anyone know?

I suppose this doesn't answer anything conclusively, but I replaced the OEM battery with a higher CCA-rated AZ battery and it was code-free after 5-10 min of driving. Everything seems to be working fine. I've seen posts on other forums that the A3's don't have the programmed battery maintenance like the B8's, but who knows.

All you need to do is drive a few hundred feet or so and then pull over and store your tire pressure. I run a lightweight battery in the trunk
