My car is too fast :-(

I've always wanted a 911 and lately have been shopping for a 997 C4S. I've test drove a couple and every time am disappointed with the seeming lack of power, when compared to my B8 S4 (APR stage 2). I rarely recruit the full potential of the S4, but its nice to always have it there. I'll still probably switch to a 911, but for all reasons other than "it's faster than my car".

Anecdote: This past summer I was road tripping to Telluride and a 2016 911 GT3 RS came up on me. I was loaded down with the wife, labrador, Thule roof box and camping supplies for a week. We took some really good digs through passing zones, etc. and the dude couldn't get an inch.

I put this in the regional forum because I am 100% sure this is because of the altitude in Denver and the CO mountains.

I know a 911 turbo would solve all my problems, but for some reason I have a bit of an aversion to them, and they are out of my financial range anyway.

Altitude for sure. The S4 is a great all around car, but I always want more speed. Went and test drove a new E63 S and holy hell it was fast. How'd you like Telluride, that's where I grew up.

    996 turbo is 997.1 c4s money

    I bought a 996 c4s last year, I just couldn't find the 997 to be $20k+ better than the 996, unless I jumped up to a 997.2.

I've been smoked by a few S4s when driving the mountain roads, but it doesn't bother me. The way the 911 drives and feels is just incredible. It is a fantastic driving car.

Really terrible place. No reason for anyone in Denver to ever travel further than Summit County.

I gave up speed to get into a 911.... However the "driver's" experience I got from my Porsche couldn't be matched by a faster Audi. I love how low the center of gravity is, I love the lack of body roll, I love the handling with the motor over the rear wheels and I love the flat 6 exhaust note.

Yep, I pretty much feel the same way. Right now I'm just torn between a 997.1 C4S and the .2 version. I like the front end of the .1 SOOO much better than the .2, but the rear of the .2 better. And I know the .2 has a lot of improvements, including the engine, over the .1 that defiantly make it the wiser decision... yet I'm still really drawn to that damn .1!

I'd definitely opt for the .2 just for the engine. And some still have a warranty.

Also hop on the Rocky Mountain Region PCA Facebook page. Tons of knowledgeable people on there.
