700 if you want the diamond-encrusted downpipes too.

All jokes aside OP, these systems have trouble moving at $100-150.

I guess it is pretty hysterical in some way. Almost as hysterical as the price of this system brand new.

All jokes aside, resale isn't retail. Also - the marketplace where your friend's system is posted dictates that the stock systems are pretty much only worth a bit of trade for an aftermarket system, or 1-200$ max.

    Regardless - GLWS OP's friend.

Yea retail pricing is a joke for sure. Just like OEM wheels, retail is like $1k EACH but you're lucky to sell a full set for even $1k.

Thanks for the info guys. Appreciate it. But this isn't my first rodeo as far as selling parts on internet forums goes. I may seem like a noob on the Audi forums but that's only because for the past 12 years I've owned nothing but Evos and have spent endless hours buying, selling, and posting there. I simply told my friend I'd do him a favor and put his parts on the forums for the price he's asking and see where it goes. In this case retail really doesn't play a huge part. It's more about how badly someone needs a stock exhaust (lease end trade-in, accident without full coverage, etc). Would I pay $500 for an oem exhaust if nothing else was available and I absolutely needed one? Unfortunately yes I would because that's a much better option than paying full retail.

What you're not understanding is that nobody would ever pay anywhere close to retail for the factory exhaust.

I could create a WANTED post and within a few hours get a half dozen guys very happy to get the stock system out of their garage for $150. There's too much supply and no demand for the stock system.

This. I had the shop junk mine because I know it'll be easy to get someone's stock exhaust when it's time to sell my AWE.

Contrary to what you believe, I actually fully understand that concept. Once again I am simply doing a friend a favor by listing his exhaust on the forums. If it sells, great. If not, no sweat. Thanks for the input!

That's too bad because you could have taken the catalytic converters to the scrap yard yourself and probably got money for the platinum inside them

My cats are still in. I only changed the exhaust portion, not the downpipes. Even so, the nominal amount of money I would get isn't worth my time or hassle to get them scrapped.

Your friend could make a quick couple hundred I'm sure, they just have to price this exhaust accordingly.

PM'd, let's see how reasonable your friend is willing to be!

Please tell your friend to keep in mind that I just bought a factory S4 catback from another user on here, for my buddy, for $50.

Sorry there was no for sale thread, just a PM.

But this reinforces my point further that tons of members have these exhausts for sale and don't even post them for sale because demand is so low.

Just sold my track exhaust for not much more. Got a free stock from my shop to swap back on. He's better off keeping it in case he wants to go back to stock to be honest.

I'd pay $250 for it with downpipes

You'll probably have better luck creating your own thread in the classified section. Posting your items for sale in another users listing doesn't work well usually

Looking forward to picking this up on Sunday.

I currently have an AWE Touring exhaust + Resonated downpipes installed on my car. Does anybody know if I need anything further to make the swap back to stock?
    Gaskets? Clamps? Hangers?

    Thanks all

You shouldn't need anything extra. I helped him put his AWE exhaust on and it used all the stock hangers and came with its own clamps and gaskets.
