The mileage display on dashboard doesnt turn off.

Hey!

So I recently bought a new car - 1998 Audi A4 B5 1.6 petrol. It's going all fine! Though there's a tiny thing - I didn't notice in the start, but now when I shut off the engine, the little display that shows the cars total mileage and the mileage since last reset isn't turning off. It is constantly on, even when I remove the key from the ignition. Usually just when I shut off the engine, it turns off, but when I open the door to get out, it lights up again, and stays on. Im wondering is that how it's supposed to be, or is it some sort of electrical failure? Im worried it will drain my battery, especially since it's starting to get really cold here.

Also I searched through whole internet and couldn't find an owners manual for the car. Maybe someone has it on their computer and could share?

It stays on for a little bit. Lock and Let the car be for like 10 minutes and it should turn off.
