My B6 Headlights Will Not Stop Fogging up!!!

Hey guys, haven't posted in a while but Im having a problem with my headlights that has me stumped.

My A4 Ultrashort headlights will not stop fogging and I mean fogging BAD. I attempted the o-ring fix and left my headlights on for over an hour in my shop to clear out most of the condensation. When I took the car out and drove it in the rain for 15 minutes and returned they were literally COMPLETELY fogged and full of condensation once again. I know that a small amount of condensation is supposedly normal according to Audi but my fathers b6 a4 with identical headlights never fog in the slightest so I call BS on that. Has anyone else had this problem even after the o-ring fix? Im hoping there is something else out there before I start throwing globs of silicone sealant at my headlights.

Ensure the vents are not plugged with spider webs or something.

Treat the rear seals with some silicone spray wiped on from a rag.

    ensure the O-rings are good.

As Luxus said above, check all of those items and inspect the seals around the bulb cover. The rubber tends to crack over time and lets in moisture. That said, many folks here report that even after all of that, some condensation still occurs on the Bi-Xenon headlights (single Xenon are not as prone to this issue) and the way to deal with it is to put some silica gel/desiccant packs inside the housings and change them periodically. Install = tape them to the inside of the bulb cover and make sure they are not near the bulb/projector, so you don't start a fire. How often you need to change them depends on your area and amount of changing weather conditions, how you park etc. From what I've read, about every 6 months is when the packs loose their ability to absorb moisture. Those are the packs you get with most electronics and shoe packages, but you can buy them at hardware stores too, I think.

Yea, that fog wont go away. You can make extra vent holes on the bottom of the light. ( that's what I did. Picure is in the o ring fix thrad. ) It helps, but in heavy rain some fog still appears. ( and I have new headlights, so one year old seals ) :D

I feel your pain. The previous owner of my car did the biggest abomination of a joey mod on mine. Hopefully you don't have 1/4" holes on the tops of the lens covered with tape like I do...

On a side note, hairdryer. I have done the o ring thing a few times over the years, every time I have mine opened up I take a hair dryer to them for a while instead of leaving the lights on for 30+ minutes.

Buy a bag of small silica gel packs on Amazon. Place one in each housing.

Headlights are vented for this reason.Fog only occurs when theres a difference between the outside temperature and temperature of air inside the headlight.Park the car outside.Let temps equalize. If you still have foggy lights.Turn headlights on they should be clear after an hour. This is normal operation.
