Too early to get a tune?

Hey guys, so i posted a thread the other day with me getting my Q5 3.0t last week. The car is a lease with about 250 miles on it at the moment. This is my first new car and I am obviously under warranty. With the insane gains (in my personal opinion) i can get out of this car with a tune im a little worried if it may be "too early" for one. I will own the car for the next 3 years and i would like to take as much care of it as possible. At the moment two questions are on my mind; should i have some sort of a brake in period? and is a tune (most likely APR) going to give me a hard time if i have to service the car? Sorry for the newb question but its the first time i have to deal with it

If you go into the dealer with a tune you are screwed. With that said EPL is having a killer sale right now with flash from home capabilities.

other than that , some will probably tell you its never too early , and others will say to put a few more miles on the car to make sure its solid and that everything is working as it should.

My advice is to wait until your 5K-mile service. It's free, and you don't want to take it in for that with a tune. 5K miles is sufficient for break in - and drive it hard to make sure nothing breaks. After all, you are about to void the drivetrain warranty. As long as you give it a good stress test that first 5K, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The 3.0T-ZF8 combo is damn near bulletproof.

This is not complicated. Just tune it. Went to stage 2 at ~500 miles.

It is better to break the engine in with the tune as well :) Best part is that you get that sweet TD1 at the dealer, big deal.

You'd be surprised how "far" you can get by finding a service advisor/tech team that will support you, and not want to ding you for your tune and modifications.

I had my SQ detuned, but w/ my CTS intake intact to be serviced. My APR dealer said it was protected by magnuson act, so i left my intake on. No trouble

With Audi's new system of TDI's yes you do run this risk, relative to that I suggest you have the ability to flash to stock before going to the dealer.
Finding a competent indy to compliment the dealer is helpful.
