    Engine work-oil consumption failed

I've got a 2011 A4 Quattro that failed the stage 1 oil consumption test and because I've got an Apr stage 1 installed, Audi told me a big NO! for them covering the fix. (Not that I didn't expect that) Niello in Sac quoted me $5500 for fixing the rings and pistons.

Who should I use here in the Bay Area for the rings and pistons to be fixed?

Should I do more to the engine since it'll be opened up? What?

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Try taking dispute up with AoA . Are you the original owner of the car? The class action lawsuit is audi admitting the b8 piston rings are complete garbage and its a widespread problem. The tune should have nothing to do with it since its a class action warranty against a known defect. The audi dealer is just an independent car dealer that happens to sell the brand. They aren't AoA owned. I had to fight AoA to cover mine all because the dealer refused to cover it because i was missing one single oil change receipt. Total clowns. I told them i did the oil change myself since the car was no longer under factory warranty and theres nothing stating i cant do my own oil changes. And the oil used is Audi approved and filter was from audi dealer. They ended up covering it 100% after a month of fighting everyone.

Thanks Furly, AoA told me "no way" because of the APR tune. They wouldn't even entertain sharing the cost or anything of the sort and Niello Audi in Sac refer to AoA, so no help there. Niello gave me a price of $5500 for replacing the rings and I'm getting a price from 034 Motorsports in Fremont. Know of any other Audi shops you'd recommend here in the Bay Area?

    Thanks,

    Alex

    Autowerkstat in san jose
Tomas sport tuning in Berkeley (highly recommended)
    Griffin motorwerk in Berkeley

Def shop around and get the best deal you can. While they have it apart its a good idea to replace the timing chain tensioner and guides. They are cheap for OEM. I had the dealer replace mine while doing the ring job and it cost no extra labor. These 2.0T motors have a high failure rate of timing chain tensioners around 90k to 110k.
