Am I crazy for considering an alternative to Q7 because RSE is a let down?

I'm in the market for a new SUV and it looks like the Q7 missed the mark when it came to the Rear Seat Entertainment. From what I've read, the DVD won't play through the rear RSE's, RSE's aren't synched to the SD slots and are not synched together so requires dual streaming. Streaming isn't a good option for me anyhow, we're traveling in and out of canada, through the woods and areas that just won't support the data rates. How'd Audi miss the mark on this? Ideally you would just have a RSE that could play from the dvd player pump sound through the radio. I personally don't like the idea of headphones either because we can't communicate when needed but that's not even an option....

when vehicles are designed and when they come out are two different worlds. what it was planned to do and what is current rarely meet. most vehicles still do not have bluray available or hotspot. IMO you can't beat having a tablet with a data plan. it is the most convenient and most current and not tethered to a vehicle. i had RSE in other vehicles and we rarely used it despite paying for the option.

Data plans with an iPad aren't reliable enough in my opinion. Anyone using the car for road trips when they actually could use the devices are going out of cell range. For us it's through the mountains and across borders.

My solution for data reliability has been to download the content onto the tablet. I typically download a few hours of content at home on wifi before flights or road trips. Voila...no data plan required.

And I assume you just stream the audio through the car if not using headphones?
