Any body use the Ctek battery tender with the cigarette lighter adapter?

Just bought the CTEK MUS 4.3 battery tender with the cigarette lighter adapter because I read on another thread that it prevents having to connect directly on the battery and I liked the convenience of it.

Went to storage unit to install it but noticed that the charging won't happen unless the car is ON (not necessarily started, but at least on). If I turn it off the tender simply won't charge.

Since I would like to prevent having to leave my car ON for a couple of months (seems counterproductive), is there a trick to charge the battery using the cigarette lighter adapter with the car off? I could turn the screen, fan and lights off but that leaves the cluster and MMI on).

I didn't try the 12v outlet in the armrest because I didn't have enough wire length and I figured it should be the same result anyway..?

    Car is a 2015 B8.5 S4

This NOCO G1100 Charger is only good for charging batteries rated up to 40Ah. The battery in the B8 S4 is rated more than that. The NOCO G3500 model is the correct choice since it is good for up to 120Ah rated batteries.
Current: 2016 S5 in Sepang Blue with Technik Package.

good to know, i have only used it as a maintainer, not for charging a dead battery.

If it's not working then the only way to get it to work is rewire the cig lighter to be constant power. Probably easier for you at this point to just hook directly to the battery. The rewire is really simple though. http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...it-s-always-on

If I was to use the poles under the hood, what suitable ground location would you suggest?

And follow up question, can I close the hood over the cable? Or should I leave the hood open while in heated storage? Would it affect the hood dampers/struts?

Well, for those who are in the same position: I had to plug in the charger directly to the battery terminal under the hood. Postive being under the plastic cap right over the firewall, in the middle. Negative terminal being next to the shock tower (driver side).
I left the hood cliped down, but not fully closed (to leave room for the charger wire).
