    Am i crazy? S6 to M2

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Ok -two opposite ends of the spectrum i know but hear me out. As you can see from signature i have had a lot of Audi's and my favorite was the B7 S4. Driving that was just an amazing experience i could throw it around and i always knew what it would do.

What i am seeing is the M2 may be very close to that type of drive again. The S6 is a rocket no doubt about it. I love it, but its just numb.

So i know that 99% of the responses will be i am nuts because this is on an Audi site - but still wanted to throw it out there. Mind is NOT made up.

Nothing wrong with an M2 - have you sat in one? My sister had a 1 series and it was one dinky car. Itll probably feel like a go kart compared to s6 especially when comparing sizes. I see you had a cab at one point so I'm sure your used to a 2 door. Personally a 4door fits my current lifestyle...

No v8 but a Inline 6 with 3 pedels should put a smile on your face...

Why not wait just a bit and get the TT RS? Its probably a better car all-around.

The only issue with the M2 is that ist leases for the same prices as the M3/4 from what I have been hearing. But.... I also hear it is totally worth it.

    I love the M2.
I have a Z4M for the exact "need" you describe. S7 is a rocket and had other sedan but will never sell my 6 in line 3 pedals (and rear w). Never!

The M2 is an incredible car, know of someone who has just taken delivery of one. Problem is that they are better than the current M3/4 and people know it so very hard to get hold of one. In the UK they are commanding 20-30% premiums over list. A good number of reviews have said the M2 is the true successor to the E30 &39 M3's rather than the current M3/4, that said I'd probably still have a 1M if a BMW M car is what I had to pick.

Chris Harris has just done a 1M vs M2 comparison for TG.

Luckily here across the pond you just need to get an allocation number. Won't take too long to get it and then you buy it at full MSRP. Luckily no markup

Was curious and did a quick pass on some M2 lease numbers .. LOL residuals are terrible. Don't lease it, buy it if you can. You can lease a well equipped F80 or F82 sans carbon ceramic option for the same price as the F87 due to it's shit residual. Oh and S55 > N55, if you care about engines.

If you don't need the room that the S6 provides, why are you in a car that big? Sure its fast, and nice, but there are plenty of other cars that are way more fun to drive for similar or less $ if all that space isn't a requirement.

An M2 should be more fun to drive than any of your prior cars.

I think the M2 is an excellent choice. It's a true performer and I personally think it looks bad ass, JMOH. I've been scoping one out myself lately, although I probably won't pull the trigger any time soon since I'm still enjoying my S6. If I were to purchase one, I'd let the hype die down a bit; I refuse to pay sticker or more for any car. With the new TT RS and RS3 coming online soon, I'd wait and see what Audi has to offer.

I drove facelift S5 couple of days ago, cant say it was much better in driving dynamics than my S7, it still felt numb like most Audis I have driven. Maybe get the used R8!? I don't recommend M bmw's, my friend has M4 and yes it drives great and you can really feel the front tires but the crazy amount of wheel spin alla the time gets frustrating. Even the RS5 beats M4 from 0-60 90% of the time.

Appreciate the dialogue. I threw down $1,000 to go onto the waiting list for an allocation number. Should get allocation in Q1 so i need to decide at that time if i want it. If i dont i get the $1,000 refunded, so no big deal.

If i do it, it will be financed, i never lease cars. It will be Long Beach Blue 6MT with the M Performance exhaust.

Will still have the A6 in the garage as well so if i need something bigger i can just switch with the wife for the day.

2017 991.2's come "turbo-ed" even in the base-trim. There are already tunes out for easy upgrades. However, even in the base-trim, you'd be looking at $120k once you add a couple of options. What's the M2 netting out to? If the M2/M4 had AWD I'd have considered it as well but have had some terrible experiences with my now-gone RWD 135i.

I clicked on this thread b/c the M2 does look like a phenomenal drivers car (meaning you can get a 6MT) and saw the comments about the TTRS and RS3 coming out soon and has to ask a question. Are the TTRS and RS3 already out? I am down in Anna Marie Island FL for Thanksgiving and just saw two new TTRS's and a RS3. They looked amazing, but i didn't think they were out. Sorry for the random question, as i am not trying to thread jack.

Agree, If the Bmw would start to make M cars AWD I would never probably buy S or RS Audis again. But until they are RWD only I won't buy them. RWD is for track fun only, for everyday it's not for me.

It's mine also! I'm saving up for one-hopefully in a couple of years. A TTS spec'd out to my liking is coming out at $200K...ouch. I started tightening my belt but it's going to be well worth it, IMO.

I believe the TT RS and RS3 are due to be out this coming summer (2017 as 2018 models). This info is from what I've read. I'm looking to pickup a RS3 as a airport car to replace my S6 in a couple of years, if my plan goes through.

Won't you miss the room and comfort of the S6, though?
M2 is a great car. A few of our customers brought them by our offices. But I must say that interior room ( not surprisingly ) is lacking in such a small car.

A serious serious difference in size. I wanted a M2 in July. Was told there is a t least a year wait. And that there already is a waiting list on the year wait waiting list. M2 is absolutely a beautiful and special vehicle. I also need a car ASAP. I went for a Season of Audi edition A3. Yes I know - not even close to an M2 but I never owned an Audi -and had 2 Bmws. A 5 and I still have an M3 in my garage. I don't get a top tier car until I try it so hence the A3. I already decided my next car will be either an Rs5 or new M series. I LOVE The Audi. IMO. The M2 is a phenomenal car however BMW has done very little in the past 20 years in updating their interior IS and Audi has done very little in distinguishing the exteriors of their RS and S series cars. But you are talking about 2 vastly different types of autos

I don't think you're nuts - sounds like you want a more involving drive than the S6 can provide.

If your A6 fills the "sedan" portion of your needs, and you don't need 2 sedans or AWD, then sure - M2 - why not?
