Alu Kreuz Installation in Novi, Michigan

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi folks,

I am getting Alu Kreuz for my 2013 S4 but I am unable find a workshop who has knowledge on installing this around Novi area. I was quoted 330$(2.5hrs labor) by Audi Farmington hills. Moreover they first said that the car needs alignment after installation . The service guy checked his so called guide and later quoted its 2.5hrs job. I know that it hardly takes 30-45 mins. So would like to get fellow Michigan Audians inputs on a good non-rip off workshop for this installation and for any future bolt on mods.

    Thanks in advance.

You don't need an alignment afterwords. Make sure you have all new bolts for it as they are one time use bolts. I would say its 1.5 hrs tops, you really could have it done in less then 1 hr.

If nobody has any recommendations, I would email Eurocode. They'll most likely point you to a recommended installer. That's what I did when I got mine. They pointed me to a local indy shop that I've been using for everything outside of dealer work since then. However, I ended up having my dealer install the AK for free, because they had to remove the OE brace anyway to replace the transmission oil pan during my 5k service, so I just had them put on the AK afterwards. It really shouldn't take more than 30 minutes with the car on a lift and no alignment is needed. The key is that they use new bolts (make sure you order them) and that they torque everything properly.

Any good shop in Oakland county is going to gouge you on labor (they all typically charge by book time for replacing parts).. Can't tell you where to get a better deal but for top notch work I swear by Motorwerks in Commerce MI. They've done all the bolts on for my car. Talk to Rusty and tell him Muneeb with the s4 sent you. Let them know how easy the install is and they might work with you on price.. They did it for me years ago but I don't remember how much they charged.

Good advice above regarding bolts and alignment..

Yeah, I would agree with the above on Motorwerks. I know Automotive Techniques is just up on Grand River past Haggerty and the Benz dealer. I haven't heard anything bad or good about them though...

Its a very easy install, you can do this yourself or have a friend that is handy come over and do it for beer?

If you don't have ramps, try these: https://www.amazon.com/RhinoGear-119.../dp/B0117EESNC

It took me about 30 minutes to install.

Do not use ramps to install the AK! It explicitly says so in the installation guide. If you take off the OE brace with the weight of the car on the front wheels you risk severely damaging the subframe. Car needs to be lifted off the front wheels.

I had the front brace off for a clutch job last week and I think I was able to remove it within less than 10 minutes of putting the car on the lift. You need to pull 2 plastic underbody shields and then it's just 6 bolts holding it on. I used an impact to zip them off in less than a minute. Super easy job.

Yeah I got the bolts from Eurocode. I know that the alignment is not required but not sure how this Audi service guys think so. Offcourse they said its not required after they checked their guide

I reached out to Eurocde but they didnt have any recommendations around my place. Lucky you have a dealer who is reasonable. Thanks for the suggestion.

I reached out to Automotice techniques. It seems that they never installed one before. So I will go to Motorwerks as Muneeb strongly recommended.

I dont have the necessary tools to remove the bolts. So it would cost me more to get those and the racks. As its just a one time installtion I think it is better to see a indy. Thanks for the suggestion.

Since you're going to have the car on the lift for this install you might want to think about getting some of the drivetrain inserts and do them at the same time. None of them are time consuming but a lift makes it so much easier.
