    Vent tube for OEM battery?

I had the dealer install a new battery during a service and noticed that there doesn't seem to be a vent tube connected. Does anyone know if the factory battery should have a vent tube connection? Thx in advance.

Thanks, I'll ask them about that. Strange though...all the videos I've seen on the b7 battery replacement don't seem to show them connecting a vent tube.

Most new batteries are sealed and wont require it.

Ok thanks. I know they replaced the old battery with an OEM battery replacement, and that this battery does have vent ports that can be used. I also am wondering if Audi didn't provide a battery tray cover for most B7 models because it allows the battery to vent more easily without any vent tube placed in. Gonna look to see tomorrow if I can find a vent tube hiding in the engine bay unused.

I just replaced my OEM battery with a Bosch. Yes, there is a vent tube on driver side going into the side of battery.

Thanks for the info. I'll dig in there to find the tube.

Thanks all. I found the vent tube sitting right there not far from the battery. Plugged it right in the positive side and plugged up the opposite side near the negative terminal like you're supposed to. Those friggen dealer techs are so lazy!

I just replaced my battery a few months ago and the vent tube was connected. I replaced it with a Red Top so it is no longer connected.

I can see how you wouldn't need the vent tube for a sealed Optima, but a plain lead acid battery like the OEM def needs it. I've had luck with plain battteries lasting 8 years, so haven't bothered with anything else until recently with an AGM type in my Boxster. I doubt it'll last longer than 8 years anyway, but figures I'd try it.
