    Snow tire wheel fitting

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have a 2013 S4 (B8) and I currently run the stock 18" wheels that came with the car (P245/40R18). I want an additional set of rims for mounting winter tires (need those here in CT) and I found a good deal on a set of used 17" rims. I have searched this forum and some other Audi specific sits and I am getting confliting information. Maybe folks can help me settle this out.

    Current setup:
    245/40R/18
    width: 8
    offset: 47

    Possible new setup:
    225/45R/17
    width: 7.5
    offset: 45

    Thanks!

Did you accidentally end up searching in the A4 section? I am pretty sure 17" wheels will not fit over the S4's brakes; just look at the gap with your OEM 18" wheels.

I am not sure that a 17" wheel will fit over the front brake caliper. If I remember correctly, the balance weights on my 18" winter set almost scrape the brake caliper.

There are a select few 17's that do fit on the S4...but 18's do for sure so it's easier to just go with 18.

    I run a 18" setup with 235/45 R18 tires for winter.

Throw winter tires on those factory 18's and look for some 19's for summer.

Best advice right here!! As mentioned above, there are a couple of 17" wheels that may fit the car but locating such a set may prove to be difficult. I would use your stock 18's for winter duty, no offense but the factory 18" wheels do the car no justice so allocating them for winter wheels is a good choice. Buy a set of nice 19" wheels or find a set of factory (peelers or rotors) that were take offs or that someone upgraded from. Run some nice summer rubber such as PSS's on those and throw some nice winter tires on your 18's, you'll have the total package then!!!!

Most 17's will not fit. I would not take the risk unless you can test fit them before committing to the purchase (wheel and tire).
Go with 18's. If you don't want to use your stock 18's for winters then buy a second set of 18's. Tirerack has a ton of options at reasonable prices.

^^ this absolutley. I wouldn't even think about keeping 18's on mine full time. Blah...

Get the winter rubber mounted up and take your time shopping for summer goods. You'll thank us later. Having dedicated summer only is oh-so nice. Cost is a little more up front but well worth it in the long run.

    225/45/18

If you found a 17 that fit, 225/50/17
