A couple short videos from Sebring last month. I still have a couple hours of videos to finish trimming.

They get delivered on Monday. Car goes to the shop Wednesday. I can't really test them out until I break in the clutch, though. But I'll definitely post an update as soon as I'm able to drive the car aggressively again. Shouldn't be more than a couple weeks.

That looks so fun! You go solo or with the group? Also do you take separate wheels/tires with you or just pre race prep at home and drive up?

I have them lying in my house.. I'm holding till my warranty ends to install them, you know, just in case, one blow in the next few months and I get OEM for free lol.. Hence why I'm really curious how they feel ! :)

It was so much fun. Definitely the most fun I've ever had driving a car.
I went with Chin Motorsports. They organize HPDEs at a dozen tracks around the country. I should be approved to drive solo after the next event at the end of April. Their website is chintrackdays.com if you want to check them out.
I have separate wheels and tires for the track. I don't want to mess up my nice wheels, and that way I can put more aggressive tires on one set. I bring the other wheels as a backup set in case I blow out a tire or something like that. And I tow the car there. The car gets prepped for the track (aggressive alignment, fresh oil, complete brake flush with Motul RBF600, and race spec brake pads). Once it's setup for the track I don't want anything getting messed up on these crappy Florida streets. Also, if something happens to the car at the track (like this picture of one of my tires from last time) then I'm not stuck there. As an added benefit, I then have a truck to drive around while I'm there instead of a race prepped car.

Aha thanks for the breakdown. Ya I would like to do that someday. How's the impact on the rest of the car, front fascia, windshield, mirrors, etc.?

I highly recommend it. It impact on the car isn't much. I usually slaughter a bunch of bugs because we're in Florida. As long as you drive on a decent line you're fine as far as debris goes. I haven't had anyone kick up anything while in front of me. I have the entire front end of my car, including mirrors, wrapped in xpel though.
It isn't an inexpensive hobby, but not terribly expensive either. I'd say I spend $2000 per weekend. That includes renting a truck to tow the car, hotel room for two nights, shop cost for track prep, fuel, and the fee to attend. That's for two days though. You can sign up for just one day if you choose to.

What clutch did you decide on using after JHM's didn't work out for you?

JHM Stage 5R. I wasn't crazy about giving them more money after the issues I've had, but they are going to work with me once I send back the bad clutch. We'll see how it all works out.

Wow! Now I definitely have to do.my research for my DD. I have Unitronic Stage 2+. Wondering what else is required replacing while in there. I have the stainless steel line already.

Depends how far you want to go. Since my transmission is out I'm doing upgraded motor mounts, transmission mount, headers, and downpipes.

Motor and transmission mounts will be a necessity. I have AWE track exhaust and believe headers would be overkill. Unsure though. Skeptical on the hi flow cats as the issues with JHMs.

The headers should put me over 500awhp. So since I'm in there already, why not? And I'm going catless since we don't have to pass emissions checks here in Florida.

Makes total sense. If I had the touring exhaust I would have opted for headers as well. My track and factory DPs are significantly loud already. I appreciate the info!

Yeah, I'm sure it's going to be quite loud. I have been considering switching to the AWE track exhaust. I wouldn't have done any of that if this was my daily, though. For a fun weekend/track car I can deal with the noise.

    Time for an update...

I picked up the car from the shop today. Here's the list of changes:

JHM Stage 5R clutch & new friction liner

    JHM Solid Shift Linkage

    034 Motor & Transmission Mounts

Crown Motorsports Ceramic Coated Test Pipes

Here's a couple pictures of the JHM Stage 4 clutch that came out. It would appear that it couldn't handle the power that the car makes and melted to the friction liner on the flywheel.

I picked up the car at noon, and that's when the day turned to shit.
I decided to drive to Orlando to dyno the car. I wanted to see how much power the test pipes added.
Well, some lady wasn't paying attention and rear ended me.

I need to have the bumper repainted and will most likely have to replace the valance.

Finally got to the dyno and the car sounded amazing.

I was there for two hours and got exactly zero usable pulls. The dyno calibration was way off. No matter how many times they tried calibrating it, it wouldn't work. Then the car was showing 7400 rpm in 4th gear the dyno was reading 6700 rpm. Such a waste of time.

A few photos from this past weekend at Sebring.

The view from my hotel room:

My instructor said that I was too fast for the novice group. So they gave me a second green band and let me drive with the blue group (intermediate solo). I get to take the test for solo driving next time.

The weekend went well until the very end. My supercharger belt had had enough. Luckily it happened with only 10 minutes left in the final session of the weekend.

Yep. Unfortunately nobody locally sells the correct belt. I did manage to locate a 6-rib belt that works. Should hold me over until I can get one online somewhere.

Eh, she was very apologetic. As long as she covers the cost to fix it all will be ok.

The exhaust note on this one is awesome through my earphones! You can tell the driver let off early by the sound. definitely unfortunate that day with the #'s and the accident

I'll always prefer a manual. Only about 1000 miles on it so far. So time will tell if it holds up. Although I now seem to be in the early stages of the dreaded "push clutch to start" problem.

Not full headers. Test pipes. And yes, they were installed.

Yeah, that was a rather shitty day.

Sorry to hear it. Was it original belt with pulley or tune ?

It was the belt that came with the 186mm crank pulley. I'm hoping that it doesn't happen again. $15 for a belt isn't so bad, but I don't want to have to keep replacing the $150 hood liner.

Did you check both pulley ? It can happen when a pulley has defect/crack and moves from correct place.

I'm starting to have this issue as well, need to push the clutch down further than before to start.

Yeah. They are fine. Four days of track use was probably a bit much for that belt.
