Just wondering. I am not huge into the Audi scene although I know enough to know this is a pretty sought after combination. In good condition what do you guys believe the value of the car is?

Lots of avants have been selling on Bring A Trailer in the mid twenty's and even into the 30's past few months. If its a nogaro with matching interior and had chains done 20k is a good starting point. Here are some examples of what they are selling for

You can get a high quality nogaro blue paint job for less than $5k. Why on Earth would you spend $25k+ on a car that in any other color would be half the price? Mr. Corey, you're also posting newer cars with very low mileage and others with timing chains/clutch job. No kidding they're going to be more expensive. OP asked about a 2005 with 90k miles and didn't give any specifics. Example: 20k less mileage and only $11,500. $20k+ just because of the color? No way I'd pay the car's worth for a paintjob

Unrelated, but holy shit, I'm impressed. This one made it to 202k miles! LOL they still want $11k for it when others with half the mileage and also have timing chain jobs are going for the same price

It's the rarity of the car that also counts, plus the $11,500 example you gave is an automatic while the nogaro dvrmstrng is talking about is a good ole manual.

@dvrmstrng its difficult to give you a $$ number without more info, is the interior a matching nogaro blue with black leather? Are the timing chains done? These 2 things will increase the value of the car. Its also important to see what other maintenance items have been performed, so let us know if the seller has receipts for any major work performed. The other things that factor in to a car's value are regular things like the condition of the paint and the interior, how many previous owners the vehicle has had, etc.

    -Spark plugs
    -Alternator belt
    -Engine air filter
    -Cabin air filter

    -Transmission fluid change
    -Power steering fluid change
    -Front brake rotors and pads
    -Driveshaft seal and fastener replacement
    -AC Vacuum test and recharge
    -Alignment

    Mods Include:
Mid-length headers from JH Motorsports which were ceramic coated at Precision Powder Coating
-2.5" Resonated and muffled cat-back exhaust from Fast Intentions
-Light wight crank pulley from JH Motorsports
    -Sturdier motor mounts (Stern Pro)
    -Stiffer engine snub mount (Apikol)
    -Stiffer transmission mount (034 Motorsports)

You can get a shitty paint job for 5k. If you look at those avant examples that's what the market is selling for. You could ask why are E30 M3 with 200k on them selling for 35-50k because they're amazing while same goes for nogaro avants. S4 Avants no longer are sold in the states so that makes the demand much higher if your looking for a clean example. The fact that their are only 30 noggy on noggy avants with manual stateside is why they are able to fetch a premium.

    Is this the car?

You've spent too much time on the Ferrarichat forums. A very high quality paint job will be around $5k-7k unless it's an extremely special metallic flake/pearlescent color that requires weeks to apply, or a high end vehicle that has very intricate parts mixing carbon fiber and paint, requiring near complete disassembly of the vehicle and all the individual components.

I suppose this professional painter doesn't know how much it costs and undercharged his customer!

I'd say $17k is pretty accurate cos its a manual avant, noggy on noggy, "low" mileage, decent amount of maintenance and a good number of desirable mods. If it is indeed the one on sale through BaT, then the negative is that you'll be the 5th owner of the vehicle.

I hadn't seen that. Yes it is, I found it through the local Craigslist.

I didn't buy it yet. But seeing in that thread $10k to get it back to "nice" condition I will probably pass.

Number of owners doesn't bother me. Just how they cared for it.

I think $10k would be more than enough to bring it to like new immaculate condition... Get a proper PPI done, and if everything checks out, I don't see a reason why this thing can't be driven another 30-40kmi before addressing timing service. If you're DIY type of an owner, then do a preventative timing service at 100kmi and enjoy it for many more miles worry free.

    # of owners doesn't really matter unless you're looking at some exotic, rare, collectible, etc. type of vehicle. I always smile at people who take # of owners seriously and sometimes even pass on great cars because of that. It's not how many owners the car had, it's how they took care of it. However I do agree, tendency is 1-owner vehicles are usually in a better overall shape than multiple-owner ones.

Car looks pretty decent to me other than the needed timing service. At this point I find it hard for someone to want this as a daily but would be a great project / show car / weekend warrior with some TLC. Bonus it has V2 headers which = Badass! and given the rarity these will only start to go up in value over time.

Number of owners has an effect on the car's market value but since this car is geared towards enthusiasts you can't really go according to the kbb value or anything. I'm the 5th owner of my own S4 and I love it to death, and I probably won't be the last owner my car sees. I just did the timing chain service so it should be good for another 100k miles (I hope) :D

Excellent buy, but then If I had to let my 2004 S4 Avant go with 109k, I would not take anything less than 15k. So it looks like when the timing service comes up, I would simply spend the 7k and drive it another 100k+.

Avant are a totally different story so i agree on 15K. i actually tried buying a Nogaro avant before this and it was also priced at 15k.

Btw i just did the timing service on my Nogaro in my garage. seller said it didn't need it but after tearing it down i found the lower center guide was chopped in half and part of it was MIA. soo i feel so much better i upgraded to the JHM intermediate kit and i feel comfortable giving her the beans every now and then. otherwise i baby her to and from work.

If it's the same one on eBay, there's an accident on the record for some reason...
