    Odd burning smell

Every now & then after normal not spirited driving of my RS6 I'll get a bit of a "burnt" smell seemingly from the right side. I've looked everywhere and can't locate. It also goes away quickly. Anyone have an idea? I realize this is very vague but worth throwing out to some of the experts out there.

Noticed any oil leaks? Very common cause of burning smell complaints is oil leaking onto the exhaust manifold.

Almost certainly a leaking valve cover gasket dripping oil on the hot exhaust manifold. For some reason the passenger side rear is extra prone to leaking. Had the same issue on my S6.

If not leaking oil, could it be the smell of burning ATF in the torque converter?

I know I do see a Lil oil build up on my skid plate but that's on drivers side of engine bay. Smells is very faint and smells more of a warm rubber than anything else peeked through engine bay the other day an didn't notice any obvious hoses or wires that looked cooked or melted but I didn't have a chance to really look good as engine was hot

Thanks guys. It is more of a burn rubber than burnt oil. Goes away within 5 minutes. Can't see oil drips

For the sake of ruling out all possibilities, have you checked your tire wear? Sometimes one wheel can be slightly out of alignment causing it to wear a little faster, could be the source of the burned rubber smell. Maybe also check your CV boots I guess.

I stand by my original diagnosis.
