Power Dip When going from 1st to 2nd?

Tuned with ED Stage 1.5 plus their dsg tune with the comfort setting on

So when I'm in sport mode and I mash the gas to go quick, after the initial 1st gear pull, when switching to 2nd, there is an abnormally large decrease in power when shifting, Like a pause, then it shifts to 2nd and the rush of power comes back on. Is that normal? Only happens when hammering the gas in sport mode. Thoughts?

I'm thinking maybe it could be the traction control?

Traction control + the soft rev limiter for sure. Before I had the APR DSG tune but was still stage 2, mashing the gas in 1st with traction control on resulted in traction control killing the fun on the shift to 2nd + the car hitting the factory soft rev limiter which cuts fuel for a split second. After their DSG tune I turned on the RS style hard limiter, so if I forget to turn off traction control it smacks the limiter with a satisfying 'pop pop pop' as it shifts to 2nd.

I (try to) always put the traction control in at least Sport when I start the car, doesn't happen then cause the car doesn't care that it's losing traction if you gun it in 1st.

Thanks for the reply. It makes a lot of sense and is probably what is going on.

I experience this frequently in my 2015 S3 with APR stg 1 and DSG tune, mostly when turning and accelerating from stop. Turning off traction seems to stop it
