    RS7 bumper conversion

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I've been searching around and I can't figure out if you need to change the headlights on a 2013 with LED's to put on a RS7 bumper.

My S7 will need to have the front bumper resprayed due to some prior owner's indiscretions, so I'm looking at my options.

There is no difference in the shape of the lighting units between the C7 models. (A/S/RS7s)

The facelift C7.5 model has a different shape lighting unit, and is not backward compatible with the non-facelift earlier C7, unless you also change out the front bumper for the facelift version.

Be aware that if you had ACC fitted and you swap bumpers, you will need to have the ACC recalibrate by the dealer.

    I have ACC, and I wish I didn't, but that's another story.

    Thanks for the reply!

You don't have to recalibrate your ACC if you know what you're doing. My tech has had my bumper off twice now and neither time needed a recalibration.

Just did this bumper swap due to a minor fender bender and was very simple to do - simple plug and play although I don't have acc.

Taking an ACC bumper off and putting the same bumper back on does not require a recalibration, unless you have removed the radar modules and refitted them, or replaced one etc.

Fitting a band new bumper, and transferring the ACC radar modules to the replacement bumper requires a recalibration, this is what the OP is discussing.

I changed to an RS7 bumper and I did not recalibrate. The system still works flawlessly.

Looks great! Did you use OEM or aftermarket?

In that case I stand corrected.
Ive had my C7.5 bumper on and off to do a grill upgrade, and discussed this with my dealers tech beforehand. I only repeated what he told me about ACC. He said that as a safety critical system, if you move the sensors on the bumper, or transfer them to a new bumper, then the system has to be recalibrate. Maybe he meant may need to be recalibrate if the system shows errors after reassembly...

To the OP, good luck, and let us know how on get on with your ACC

Yes, I'm no expert, but I swapped bumpers and have had no problems. However, I did read that you can not power up the car with the sensors removed, so I left the car powered off until I had competed the swap.

I used an aftermarket bumper and side skirts.
