Burning smell from under the hood under high rpms

Noticed a burning smell coming into the interior of my car early this morning after driving it for a little under high rpms and after I parked I noticed a little bit of smoke coming from the hood. I popped the hood, noticed the smell a bit but everything looked kosher. My coolant level is about 2 centimeters below the minimum fill line. Is that the issue? Or something more serious? My buddy was driving behind me and he said he could smell it too.

Based on your description of the problem, I would sell your car and buy a Hyundai to replace it.

At the very least get the coolant topped off at Audi. A warm engine should not have the coolant level that low.

I have a 2013 s4, DSG, and was driving pretty spirited, no burn outs lol. I topped it off with distilled and it seemed like that solved the problem.

All three of my B8/8.5 S4s have had a very slow but continuous loss of coolant. Current one(bought used) that I have also consumes oil as well. I blame it on the PCV valve that I don't want to repalce unless the WP or T stat fail. I figure the T stat is overdue.
