    Wanting to mod

I've owned my stock 01 a4 1.8t for about 3 months and I'm planning on doing some performance mods. I know this question has been asked a hundred times on here but i can't find a specific answer. I want to get the APR stage 1 chip, MagnaFlow 14815 muffler, and possibly a high flow cat. What hp and torque gains could I get from this setup. APR is rated for 50hp and 80tq gain, but I doubt I'll get that with just the muffler.

You should do a high flow or gutted cat with a good 2.5" exhaust and a cold air intake of sorts. I'm sure you'll see only the gains of the tune but supporting mods don't hurt. When I did my exhaust and cold air intake to an otherwise stock car I noticed no difference. Felt the same, just louder. But the fact that your motor isn't working so hard to accomplish the same power is enough for me to want to do it. I will say, with a full turbo back exhaust I did see 2-3 mpg increase. Once I put a tune on I saw almost 8 mpg increase though.

I know that with a 2.5" cat back I'll get the full benefits of the tune, but I'm on a tight budget right now. If I were to get the muffler, hfc, and Cai would I notice a good power gain?

If you're tight on cash, cut open your cat, knock out the guts, and weld it back up. Forget about the CAI, little measurable benefit from it, front mount intercooler would be a good place to start also.

I was thinking an fmic but a lot of forums basically said it isn't worth it. Would a 275$ ebay fmic suit the car or is that way to cheap?

not true about fmic, when I had a k03 in the summer I would see intake temps of 200F and lots of timing retard.

All the stage 1s are pretty much the same. Reflect is a smaller company by a guy from here. From what people say his tunes are great for the price. No personal experience.

Okay that sounds good. If I could find something a little cheaper than giac or apr I would be happier.

Motoza Performance is another great option for your car.

I started with their Stage 1 tune and then paid the difference to upgrade to 1+, and then eventually K04. I've been more than satisfied with their service. And their tunes are not "off the shelf" like most others, but are custom tuned to your setup, altitude, etc.

You get multiple revisions until they get it almost perfect.
