Current engine has about 45,000 miles on it - still runs great! Bought the A6 in 2009 and that engine had issues on the way home - found a great deal on a new factory crate engine - with the turbos and accessories - and had an Audi dealer install. Drove good for few years then parked until I could clear an emissions code and recently gave up on O2 sensor install (and cracking the spider hose).
A6 does run and drive - I drove home from garage for 45 minutes. Is it safe to drive - I don't know! I got it home without issues other than revs some before engaging - something new after sitting.
The biggest current problem is that there is no communication with the transmission control module or CAN bus. Now I thought I had communication with the CAN bus via vcds in the past,
but it is what it is - potential wiring harness issue.
