    Annoying engine noise and vibration

My A4 is noticeably loud, it sounds like a cheap raggedy car from how much it vibrates. I'm just wondering what it could be. Engine mounts seem to be just fine. Car shifts smooth and don't feel the engine moving around while driving. It vibrates alot on idle and gets worse on drive.

I could hear some thumping noise. Is there any? If motor mounts are fine, did you also check the snub mount?

How do I check if my snub mounts are bad?

take off the underbody tray, crawl under and look up .. you will see a bar bolted on the bottom going into the rad support area.. on the end of that is your snub mount. see if its disintegrated.

I checked the snub mount out it looks like it's all there. But I think it's really soft. I rubbed it with my finger and the edge just disintegrated. Gonna replace it as soon as I can.

Is the pcv valve supposed to have that ticking that loud?

Take a photo of your engine mounts, even if they are a little bit squished, they may be shot. The snub mount may lead to vibration, but I think of it as a torque mount, to prevent the engine from lifting up under load. There is a bracket that goes on the oil pan, and the rubber OE mount goes on the end of that bracket. The mount goes into another bracket which sits on the front radiator support right below the radiator. If that bracket on the radiator support isn't centered, it may also lead to vibration.

Your video, no offense, doesn't help much. It sounds like a normal 2.0t FSI engine.

Scan car and check for misfires. Sounds normal though to me. Also check cam follower and possible timing chain tensioner.

Just replace it if you haven't. Not expensive, and even cheaper if you do it yourself.

I'd put a stethoscope down by the oil pump/balance shaft assembly. Those have been known to commit suicide on these motors, and it can be end of the motor when it happens.
