    New turbo

I'm getting a new replacement turbo for my car and not sure what the issues would be if the wastegate was plumbed like in the picture aside from being plumbed to the boost solenoid stock. Are there any differences on power or problems leaving it like this? I'm more of a N/A guy not dealing with turbos very often so I'm new to this aspect of engines.

That would make it run on wastegate spring pressure which is like 4-5 psi. When you connect it to the boost solenoid it goes to like 10-11 psi if your on a stock tune.

you'll also probably be replacing that turbo if it hasn't been balanced, wich usually is the case on a no name brand ebay turbo.

I'm short on funds as my paychecks have been reduced for the time being until a lot higher paying job comes up, its only a temporary fix until I can get a better one. I absolutely hate to do it too, but I got to do what needs to be done for now.

Then buy a used one with low miles... It will last longer than that Ebay turbo and it's a direct swap... What is wrong with your old turbo?

or at the very least have this one your getting balanced for another 50-100 depending on machine shops around you, It will last a bit longer and I guarantee it can't be worse than if you don't.

If you really want to save money but have it actually be a good turbo you can always replace the chra and save $200-$300

Cracked housing on both the turbo and exhaust side, no boost pressure and consumes oil like crazy.

I have one with 120K on it ran great when I swapped the engine. The only catch is I wouldn't be able to get to it until the weekend after thanksgiving. And it definitely won't cost 450

I have one lying around too.. original owner replaced it 60k ago and it ran fine when I had it.. $50 plus shipping and it's yours. Have no idea how much shipping is to your neck of the woods but I can look it up if you are interested.. If anything you get the housings you need...

taken care of they last, I'd take PreciseD up on his offer, Even if the shipping was $100 thats 40 more than that craptasitc ebay turbo that will most likely die in 20K. Mines at 210K and hits 10psi everyday, just change oil frequently (personally I do every 5K) and make sure to always warm up and cool down the care properly.

I change my oil every 3k miles or 3 months, the previous owners took very horrible care of the car. I expect to swap it out before 20k miles since I work 6 miles away 6 days a week, mostly straight aways.

gl with the ebay turbo as it seems your determined to use it, I would take PreciseD on his offer 6 times over before that and with flat rate shipping it would be half that ebay cost. But I hope for your sake it doesn't throw a bunch of metal chunks into your intercooler.

You'll end up paying twice if not more when that ebay turbo craps out and you've gotta pay for a legit one plus shipping.

nothing ground off either nut, so almost definitely not balanced, at least spend some money to balance it, probably around $75 if you have a machinist near you.

Do you need to put oil into the oil port spot before you start it?

Day 2 with the Ebay turbo, so far so good. It actually throws me back now when going full throttle on rare occasions. No oil burning smell now.
