Weird climate control issue...blower is running hard but no air is coming out!

Recently my climate control started doing something very strange. I don't drive this car often...and have noticed this both with the AC and the heat. Basically when I turn the system on (Auto) I can hear the fans blowing hard but no air is coming out of any of the vents. If I hit the re-circ button some flaps move around and I can feel air coming out. This also happens with defrost. Fans running hard but no air coming out of the dash vents. The defrost is actually the thing I'm most concerned about. That can be dangerous if your windscreen fogs up all of a sudden.

I feel like the system needs to be reset or something so that it recognizes the flap positions, etc. I have VCDS and have run the output test. I hear flaps opening and closing during the test so I think all the servos are OK? Not sure what to check at this point. Any tips or suggestions?

Scan the HVAC module for faults. Best guess is that the servos are stuck in position. You may be able to get by with just doing the re-alignment, but if you already tried that, you may be taking the dash apart a little bit to replace motors.

There's a fresh air flap (right below cabin filter) and a cabin intake (behind glove box). Maybe both are shut (usually always one is open for intake).

Is there a procedure for a re-alignment or is this something the output test does? I'll scan the HVAC module again for faults. Can you tell me what "taking the dash apart a little bit" entails? Are we just talking about removing the glove box? I can handle that I think...
