My car is a '15 with under 10K miles and today the front drivers aide brake started to squeal slightly. Anyone have this issue?

I think everyone with an S4 and stock brake pads has squeaky brakes when it starts to get cooler out..

    I absolutely cannot stand it

mine did it, even if it was low 70s out. Since upgrading my brakes and pads it does not do it anymore.

    You guys really shouldn't call grumpy a troll. He's a good-ish guy

Whatever compound Audi uses for it's pads are known to start squealing when it gets cold.

It affects a ton of models sadly.

Only real solution is to switch pads.

So the solution is to wait for summer or to swap pads? Rotors should be OK right? Or does the compound "crystallize" on the rotor and makes it squeal with other pads also?

It's just the pad compound that squeaks. You should be good with just a pad swap. People cry about the "lack of bite", but I still love my Akebonos.

oh yeah your 2015 rear brakes started to "squeal slightly"? must be nice, i'm a full on screaming banshee when it's to cold outside. I see the heads turn as I creep to the stop light, like "yep that's me in the newish audi with the brakes that sound like shit" ze germans and their stupid compounds. I got free pads and service for those pads when I complained to the dealer around 12k. The squeal is back but it's worth a complaint to see what happens. There is a tsb out there as well. I'm thinking about going w/ that porsche bbk from jhm when I get my $ up.

I complained and my dealer said there's nothing to do but for $250 they could re-grease the joints (LOL). Idiots.

Maybe if I complain enough I'll get new pads.

Yeah. Fall last year in TX same thing with mine. Only like 14,000 miles when it occured. Recorded the freight train brakes and refused to take no for an answer on replacement. Dealer finally caved and offered "good will" replacement.

I know its common but still not acceptable.

Crazy enough Im getting this done to mine (not by the dealership) because my guy said that it will help a bit but ultimately you have to change the pads. Its starting to get cold so Im parking that crap I cant deal with the noise.

On some level it's nice to know this is a fairly common problem and not something wrong with my car... never the less, it makes me crazy. I can't wait for springtime to change out my pads , rotors, and lines. I'm not against reading thru old threads, but there are hundreds of pages on this topic. what are the top few agreed upon pads with good performance and if possible , less dust ?

Same here 2015 with 12 k miles, few squeals when temp dropped to 50 degrees, but not much of a problem during the winter . So far this year a few squeals at same temp, do not know of winter yet.

It is the pad compound used by Audi and the colder it gets, the worse it is but there are a couple of things you could try:
    * use Disc Brake Quiet by CRC on the back of the pads;
    * re-bedding the brakes (they may have become glazed).

    I plan to go with:
Drilled and Slotted rotors, haven't decided what set yet. (Either Adam's, Stoptech or ECS's Kit)
    SS Lines (ECS or Stoptech)
    Hawks HPS 5.0 pads

My brakes are currently still at ~70% though so I will sadly wait until they are more worn down before swapping.

My OEM brakes did not squeak.
When I replaced them at 40k, I noticed all of the pads were cracked down the center. This could cause squeaking if exacerbated.

I replaced the stock setup with cheap trw pads and slapped some CRC disk brake quiet on just in case. No squeaking yet.
The trw pads have a divet down the center to prevent cracking as well.

My brakes are currently still at ~70% though so I will sadly wait until they are more worn down before swapping.

I would say good one but, the last thing I want is some idiot trying this.
Those new HPS pads are said to be crappy... like worse than the previous versions from what I remember reading.

Always squeaked during cold temps. Finally getting them replaced next week with standard issue Zimmerman rotors and Hawks Performance Street. Will probably squeak throughout winter.

The few reviews I've seen had them rated much better than the previous HPS pads.

I've only done light research on the subject though as I will probably live with my brakes for another year.
