    Matt black stripes, how to?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
My s4 is having some stripes painted a la some R8's I've seen. Front hood, roof, rear deck. Maybe a foot wide and then another an inch wide. So I'm looking to get info on the most advised procedure of how to do this. Are there any expert painters out there, or has anyone done this. On a side note, got my 605 tuned today at EPL, again, the 560whp really makes for spirited driving.

    Maybe try vinyl wrap first?
Have you seen this on another b5?

Wrap is not an option "yet", I know it's popular. https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com...84079ff327.jpg

If its just simple stripes, purchase some matte vinyl and try it with that first, before being "stuck" with physical paint that you may come to dislike later and end up costing lots more to undo. If you apply the matte decals and like it 110%, then you can make it permanent with paint later.

An easy way to do it would be to use something that draws a laser line (many construction tools offer such a feature), then use "knifeless tape" to follow the laser marks, then lay your vinyl, pull the knifeless tape, remove the excess, and you are done.

Here are a few clips that may be relevant:

Also, its Matte not Matt... unless your painter's name also happens to be Matt, then its Matt's Matte Stripes.

Do you. I agree though before making a full on paint application try the wrap first by Matt in matte :).

You may thinks it's cool for a bit and then not so much.

Personally race stripes when out back in the 90's for me, but some cars like the mustang and American muscle cars just need that as part of their style.
