So I replaced my plugs and still have a p0171 error .. and power loss but only when I press the gas hard .. I can however get up to 100 miles an hour if I take my time getting there.. I pulled the plugs again and plugs 1-4 and 7 look like this
And 5,6 and 8 look like this .. any thoughts ? Any Audi experts in the Louisiana / east Texas area Williams my to talk on the phone maybe stop but to help a new Audi owner?

How are the coilpacks? Do you know exactly what that code is?

Some specs on the car would be nice. Can't expect us to help you with little to no information. What kind of car? What's been done to it? How many miles? P0171 is a bank running lean. My guess would be it's got something to do with your injectors. Whether ones clogged or bad.

I'm sorry I thought I posted this with my other post.. it's 2006 s4 4.2l v8 87,000 miles no mods to the eng. Oil Chang was done about 1 week ago. Changed the spark plugs last week and it's saying bank 1 was running lean (p0171). Coilpacks were changed around feb of this year.. I was originally getting the P0171 code along with p0300 random misfires.. and P0305, 0306, 0308 misfire codes but then changed the plugs and and now only get the P0171. I pulled the intake thinking I might have to do a carbon cleaning but to me it doesn't look bad

From what i am dealing with which is similar is a exhaust leak or post cat O2 sensors. With my luck i have both problems which i have to fix on my 2004 audi a6 quattro 4.2l.. A exhaust leak can trigger that code/multipile. Codes but its most likely you O2 sensors. A.k.a downstream sensor a.k.a post cat sensors

There is also a O2 sensor in the engine as well.. Could be that also. Its a b**** to get to though.

Wouldn't I get some sort of o2 sensor code though? And would it cause only certain cylinders to misfire or run lean?

Ok this might sound weird but when the car is idling the drivers side exhaust tip is pushing out exhaust normally but the passengers side sputters and doesn't push out as much exhaust as the left?

Yeah i would go get a exhaust leak check on the left side at mineke its free to check. You could have a small leak somewhere. That will trigger bank 1 and 2 codes as well.

Well it's back together.. still the same problem but now there is a rattle coming from the intake area and is shakes when you hold the rpms around 1200 at a stand still guess I'll take it to get the exhaust checked now that it's on it's wheels

I got my exhaust installed. Gained my horsepower back. I have to check on the gas milage lasting long soon. But the codes are still ready. Im thinking it just may be the pre cat sensor. I have yet to reset the codes to see if it comes back. But so far.. My car is running like a champ.

That's awesome I'm glad your exhaust worked .. I couldn't get my downpipes off so I ended up replacing the fuel filter and it did help but problems are still there I know get a bank 2 to rich code and misfires in 5,6, and 8 cylinders.. but only if I get on it it other then that it doesn't register any codes .. but I'm pretty sure I do have a slight misfire at idle .. I'm on Christmas leave in PA and decide to break down and have a Audi mechanic take a look at it.. maybe I can convince him to take my exhaust off and knock out the pre cats for me.. since I can't figure out the trick to getting the downpipes out

Hello I'm new to this site, I have a s4 b6 had the same issue. Po171 random misfire ect, I found an vacuum leak in the from under engine cover. However split and on load would run lean. Check that first and them spray intake to see if any other house maybe leaking. Also when you find a fix add a can of seafoam to gas tank and fill up. Hope this help it did for me. From one audi toanother. Good luck

Yes I did finally after replacing the coils PCV valve and reseating the intake.. it got a little better.. although it was still misfiring and my long term fuel trims were -20 so I decided to replace the O2 sensors and since I was able to use a lift I removed the downpipes as well.. using a lift made it 100x easier.. only took me a hour a pipe. Once they were off I notice my bank2 pre cat was clogged and collapsing in.. so I gutted both replaced the O2 sensors and drove it...... it was like a whole new car.. actually felt faster then before when the car was running right... and my fuel mileage came back from 240 miles a tank to 330 miles..just purchased a JHM tune and will be installing it today to get rid of the check eng light for inefficient cats.
