I had to google to figure out what you were referencing - adapter to use auto prop with 01E. Looks like Mantis has some experience using an adapter with the swap.

I'm assuming you already found his thread - http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...IP-6-speed-DIY

This is what I'd do as well. I'd only run a propshaft spacer if the correct one was super rare to come by. A manual B5 S4 propshaft is as common as muck.

Just weighing my options, looking for feedback. Chances are I'm going to get the manual propshaft. Especially if the adapter is that unheard of.

That thread is the one that peaked my interest during my search

I guess it depends how much the adapter is. I got a single piece shaft made for my tip so in the event I swap it I would buy the spacer, that being said I have a 6mt driveshaft in good shape sitting around for sale if shipping isnt too much.

I would rock the adapter, most manual shafts are beat AF from ham-fisted shifting.
the B5 S4 is like the mafia... there is only one way out!

I'm sure shipping from Canada would go beyond what I could get one here for. I had plans to swap, just not this soon

This is one reason why I DON'T want to source a random used piece. I know mine is in good shape and don't intend on throwing any real power at it any time soon. Torn on anti-lag and nls as I know if I have it....I'll use it

Also, time and funds permitted, plans are to have everything being swapped either new, or refinished.

Still open to feedback from those who have used it.

I dont know of many people that have used that outside of that thread. Most people that do the tip to 6 speed swap just go with the 6mt driveshaft.

If youre concerned about getting a beat shaft you can always replace the carrier bearing before installing it into your vehicle.

after buying the piece repairing it and then either paying to have it put on or do it yourself, the spacer is probably cheaper. and in all reality will do the exact same job. its just like a wheel spacer...and millions of people use them as long as its balanced i doubt its doing anything wrong.
