AWE TRACK edition exhaust with DP, Loudness?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Some quick info on my setup before i get too deep into this.

    14 S4
    Roc Euro Intake
    AWE track Exhaust
    Smaller pulley
    Chipweke tune.

Okay, so i couldn't find any info or videos with the track exhaust and resonated DP, im wondering 2 things:

Would i gain any power? or just a waste of money at this point?

How loud will it get? The track exhaust sounds just perfect i would be worry about the drone with DP.

Also on a different topic, IF the DP are not worth it im on the fence for some coils or springs, what are good recommendations? Im planning on keeping the car for a long while i know springs will wear out the shocks.

My tire setup 255/35R19 with 19x9.5 VMR V710 Wheels, im leaning towards the coils more than springs but cost wise i like the springs...yeah call me cheap

Ill take any good and bad advice.

    Thank you

You will for sure gain sound from downpipes even with the resonated ones. Power gain would more or less come from headers at this point if I can be honest.

Depending on how deep you want to dive into changing parts on the exhaust coilovers would be a good modification to consider.

ST makes a great budget coilover if you do not want to get into the KW range of things.

It has been my understanding through many discussions around here and with AWE that a resonated downpipe will be slightly quieter than stock.

Do coils or match a shock to the springs you like but at that point might as well get coils. I've had KW HAS and I wish I just skipped the ads and got coilovers...

I know you asked about Res but this is Non-Res for ref as well. I sold my track for the touring because of volumn in drone is why, otherwise I would have kept it cause it sounds so nasty. I'd rather have Non-Res dp's versus Res, and put the silencer (touring) on the end. If there are any gains to be had, more of them would come from the Non-Res dp's.

This is my fav setup to day out of all the available exhausts i've heard.

It's unbearable on the highway for long or short periods. Girlfriend wouldn't ride with me anymore until I changed it out. I didn't blame her.

It's horrible in all modes. You pretty much have to be in a lower gear and keep the revs up to lessen the drone. The higher the gear and lower the revs your just asking for a headache. I'm glad I tried it, but it's definitely a track setup cause you're always on it or off it, no in-between.

Had track exhaust with stock downpipes for about a year before I installed the AWE resonated down pipes. Drone has been greatly reduced (passes fiancé test) and the exhaust sounds more solid in general. From the driver seat, it sounds less aggressive to me. But it still sounds pretty aggressive outside the car. Did the install myself. Was a bit of a pain but not unbearable. Definitely buy their tool. And have a buddy help. Couldn't have done it without a second set of hands on deck.

I debate all the time if it was worth it or if I should have spent the money elsewhere. From a performance standpoint, even the butt dyno didn't notice a difference. So, don't do it expecting performance gains. I assume the downpipes will only come into play if I one day stop being lazy and do headers...not likely.

All in all. If you're inside the one year marker of purchasing your track exhaust, I'd consider it (you get a slight discount). If not. No way. Especially if the drone doesn't bother you. Plenty of other mods that are more worth it.

    Hope this helps.

    CP

I assume you mean in regards to having AWE with stock downpipes vs. resonated downpipes? Not the stock exhaust. Correct?
