    Hello.

I used some eBay tools for removing the radio DVD unit from the dashboard. I was able to get the unit out, but the keys are stuck solid. Pressing the springs on the side of the unit does not help. I used the following keys:

Does anyone have a suggestion to get them out?

They will be stuck until you click the radio back into the slot or if it's out, push the spring clips on the side in to release the keys.

Pushing the spring clips does not release the keys. The clips can only be pressed inwards for 1mm.

Insert small flathead and pull those springs back out.

Look at the side of the unit, it's very visible on what you push in to get the keys out. Come on man.

Pressing this tab does not release it. I have to unlock it somehow with a screwdriver.

Thanks guys. I succeeded getting the keys out. I had to remove the complete spring from the unit, then the keys released. No more eBay keys for me

I had the same problem. I just pressed in the clips and pulled REALLY hard on the keys. Also helps to wiggle them around. They will come out, just need muscle.

    Hello,
I have a radio key stuck in my MMI unit. Does anyone know how to free these keys?

Mine stick all the time. You just have to work with them. Either push on those clips or put a small flathead screwdriver underneath them and pull. There's not real magic to it. Just read everything above. It's kind of a stupid system.

All good! I found a way to free the radio removal keys! My solution was to use a vise grip hand tool. What you want to do is to clamp down in the center of the ring leaving some play between the tool and removal key while your other hand firmly holds down the unit then quickly tug the vise grip. As a result, you'll see the removal keys comes off quickly. It's just like as a kid when your mom uses sting to pull your baby teeth! Same process and it works! Just a reminder to make this work make sure there is some play with the vise grip and removal key do not clamp down on the keys.

You sure their broken? I've had times when they don't pop back out but you really have to play with them to get them to wing out again.

If I recall, when you're in Nav, go to the Nav-info button....I believe that's where it tells you how many satellites its locked on to.
