:: ECS Tuning :: NEW!! Adjustable Headlight Leveling Sensor Bracket Kit

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!

A common issue on lowered Audis equipped with AFS (Adaptive Front-lighting System) headlights is the adaptive headlight sensors inability to compensate for the change in suspension geometry. This typically results in an adaptive headlight system error illuminating on your gauge cluster. This error causes headlight beams to end up pointing down at the pavement providing you with poor nighttime visibility.

ECS Tuning's R&D department has engineered an Adjustable Headlight Leveling Sensor Bracket Kit as a solution.

Clever solution if it really is a problem.

@Jason, just FYI I believe your installation PDF has the adjustment screws labeled incorrectly.

Screw 1 is for vertical adjustment
Screw 2 is for lateral adjustment

At least, thats how it is on my car

The B8.5 is literally the first Audi that I have yet to have this problem with...

Is this only for cars with the cornering bulbs? I feel like my lights point slightly more down than they used to since lowering on H&R OE's also but I don't have the adaptive lights

EDIT: looks like I just need to turn a Philips screw on each to raise the beam on my non-AFS lights.

There is the white screw on the top. Labeled 1 in the picture above. Twist that and you can adjust them. (Its a Hex key(6 I believe) or a Philips will also do the trick)

If you hit the top or get an out of range DTC this would probably fix the issue.

It is pretty common to need to adjust your headlights after a drop.

I'm in the same boat, noticed it right away after the drop.

These typically are for those that are pretty low. When you are really low and you go over a bump you'll max out the travel on the sensor which throws a code. Immediately following this code your headlights will point directly at the pavement. The only way to reset it is to key the car off and back on again. Which if you are driving at night can be pretty scary cause you can probably only see about 10 feet in front of you.

These brackets prevent that issue from happening.

I just cut and weld the stock level rod. Works fine and then use the adjustment at the front to make slight corrections to regulation

This is a less permanent solution. No cutting or welding is needed either as it just bolts on.

I just received mine, however mounting screws doesn't thread all the way in to the bracket, only half way in. is this normal?

    thanks
