What does the AWE Touring Sound like on the 4.2 S5?

AWE Touring Exhaust with stock downpipes on the V8 S5.

I've watched videos online, but they only tell a part of the story. I've heard the word exotic thrown around - does it sound like a Maserati or similar? If not, what kind of car? Also, do you still get the pops and burbles?

from what i understand AWE sounds more like a muscle car .. the exotic sound you need Fast Intentions

AWE touring does not give it an exotic sound really but I have always had mine installed with the catless DPs so maybe the exhaust by itself does. Like doug said, it gives it a muscle growl but at idle it is quiet and only comes to life when you mash the gas.

This setup has an X Pipe.. maybe why it sounds a little different.... usually the AWE is deeper and meaner.. more aggressive sounding

It does not sound like a mustang etc. It still sounds just like the classic 4.2 it is, but on the deep side. Very much like the track system when you ask for it.

Also I'd recommend DPs if you want the whole shabang unless you go custom or straight pipe - solid difference between loud vs quality loud if that makes sense...

Hard to get that exoitic sound like capristo or tubi does on say the RS4

Yep, the Meteor one is Charlie's. The parked one in black belongs to gss5.

Yes, the pops/crackle will still be there just like any V8. I have the full AWE Touring exhaust and I really like it. Had several compliments on it...one from a Porsche driver if that helps any.

I don't think any of the YouTube videos do it much justice. Maybe go to an S5 meetup to hear it in person?
