It's funny, I never thought I'd pick up a B8 S4 seeing how I never really wanted a large car payment and I've always kind of been a b5 guy. I have a 2000 nogaro blue S4 that's somewhat of a project and was daily driving a 2001 imola yellow S4 avant that I just finished up a six speed swap over the winter on and was enjoying that when I stumbled across a 2010 S4 sitting in the back lot of my local Audi dealership. What caught my eye was that it was slammed and looked like it was wrapped in a snow camo. I got ahold of a few friends who worked there and they filled me in on the details about how the car was owned by some kid who brought it in for service because it overheated on him and then had its air ride fail on him and he was just trying to get rid of it because he didn't have the money to fix it.
Ended up getting his information and meeting with him and after doing some research and finding out it was more than likely the thermostat that failed I looked over the car and found it was a prestige with the magma red and black interior, B&O sound system and sport diff along with some other minor issues, mostly just being extremely dirty and having a leak somewhere with the airlift suspension, and I made him an offer. Now I was told that dealership had offered him $10k for a trade in but he wasn't approved for a loan so being in the spot he was in I decided I'd make the same offer in cash. We shook on it and next thing I know I have it on a trailer to take to my buddies house to get it out of the dealers lot since they threatened to tow it because it had been sitting in their lot for two weeks already and they were getting impatient. I was in the middle of moving out of my roommates place and in a duplex with the woman so I didn't really have space to start working on it until we finally moved all our stuff to the new place.
Got everything situated at the duplex and immediately started peeling the wrap off which went pretty smoothly besides the areas where they must've not sprayed as heavily and all the seams and door jams (I will never recommend plastidip for that reason alone lol). Unfortunately after all the dip was removed I found out the fenders and quarter panels were beat pretty badly from him airing out on wheels too big for the car and had chipped and cracked the paint pretty badly. Replaced the thermostat and water pump and fired right up with no issues! After it was up and running I found out I had an APR stage 2+ tune with three files and smaller pulley, along with a full Milltek exhaust. Went through the entire suspension and found a leaking bag to be the reason it wouldn't hold pressure, switched it out with a new bag and it was roadworthy
Been driving the car for three months now and it's been great! Downsized a bit and sold my avant but this car easily makes up for it and I couldn't be happier! Sorry for the long read, here's some pics haha
