S5 Sportback is fine...Ultra Quattro maybe deal killer

Not 100% sure if Ultra would be going to the S5 as per the speculation of the torque limits

It actually says only the A4 and A5 will come with a 6spd option.....I can't speak for everyone, but for me at least there is nothing to be happy about.....YAY!!! I can get an A4 or A5 with a 6spd but if i want the S model i get stuck with a 8-speed automatic ...i got super happy reading the headline only to be disappointed....ugh what a c**K tease

The Ultra Quattro doesn't look to be coming to the S-series, just A. The S is still a standard late-model mechanical Quattro system. Either way, no manual listed.

That said, who cares. I'm one of the people that's fine without a manual on the car, despite having driven manual most of my life and liking it. There's no benefit to a manual other than people liking it...a DSG or quick ZF are better in literally every way.

Ultra Quattro is fine. All the reviews said it's seamless and you never notice the transition unless you're driving you car at the limits of it's performance every day. Ultra Quattro uses the same crown differential as the regular Quattro system with the addition of an extra clutch pack at the rear differential to disengage and engage the rear axle.

I think the problem is more around the fact it can't handle substantial torque...though that could be like the 'DCT not being able to'. Even though it handles the torque better then the MT's...

No, that's not correct. Quattro Ultra uses a multi-plate clutch right behind the transmission to engage the rear axle and in addition there is another clutch in the rear differential to disengage the driveshaft completely and stop it from rotating in 100% FWD mode. There is no center differential. Quattro Ultra is mechanically much closer related to the Haldex system in the A3.

The question in my mind is, will the A5 sportback be available with the 6MT? Or just the base A5?

How expensive is it to maintain an older high mileage Audi. My 2012 looks better all the time. Except that I drive the piss out of it.
