    Headlight 'big' condensation issue/fix :)

    For what it is worth....
So i have a S6 C7 2013 (second hand), only to discover during heavy rain one headlight had BIG condensation issues. I know you can have a little bit but that quickly vaporise after few mintues driving (the headlight has a fan inside).
On first look the headlight didn't had damage from previous owner, i tried to seal the gap where the glass meets the plastic housing, but that didn't fixed it.
Before going to stealer or remove the entire headlight myself, i removed the airfilter box and had a closer look.
Nothing odd....untill i decided to remove the cover.
Apperently someone broke all 4 taps (holding a printboard) witch made it possible for water/vape to enter the light!
Not sure how it happend, but even the cover corners aswell where in poor condition (cracks).

In short, was able to order a new cover at the dealer (+-20€) and no condensation issues anymore :).

Bravo! Always worth to have a look first. Glad you were able to take care of it yourself

Reviving my old topic as it might help others...
So after i had condensation on my right headlight, last winter and now that rain is coming again here, i started to have the same 'big' amount of condensation on my left headlight. I knew i had a little crack on the top but had sealed that last winter. But last week i had the issue again and decided to finally try remove the secundairy airfilter and have a look at the headlight cover witch was the cause on the right headlight.
And yeah, as hoped, 3 of the 4 tabs holding the printboard where broken of and left 3 holes in the cover. Also at least 1 corner was cracked...
Looks this isn't a coincidence and somehow 'wear and tear' and prone to fail (i suppose heat and vibrations make them break?).

Anyway, got a new cover from the dealer 4g0 941 159 at 9,60€. Hope the water viporise now and soon a dry headlight again (the right one stayed perfect dry since i replaced). As always, more frustration removing and putting back in (hard to access bolts as always).20190929_134945.jpg20190929_134905.jpg

My personal experience: was procrastinating getting headlight fixed after someone bumped it in a parking lot and cracked the lens, headlight ended up burning out and shorting the leveling motor. Was about $3000 if I remember correctly. Moral of the story, get it fixed before it ends up costing a bunch of money.

Glad you easly found the topic.
In case it are the covers, try to keep them open in the garage and get some air in them.
I needed the car and had to put things back...took at least 2 weeks before all condensation finally made its way out of the unit, but since then both dry again.
