C7 S6 Brake job at dealership

Can anyone chime in and let me know if dealer is jerking my chain? The brake light warning came up on display and dealer told me it was caused by low brake pads and that to change pads were $1200 ! I have the term care select plan which cover pads but was told it only covers Pads ONLY and labor to install it. You still need an installation kit which contains new sensors and springs. The plan covered only half and I'm still $600 out of pocket. Is this normal for a car with only 16,000 mi on ODO ?
By the way, just had my state inspection done a week earlier and they did tell me my brakes were almost due. IMO this is way over priced considering term care select covered part of it and no rotors were turned or replaced.

Just had my front brakes and rotors replaced and it cost $1300. Will need to get my rear brakes done in 5 or 6,000 miles and have to do it all again. Brake jobs at the dealer for this car are not cheap.

You could alway do it yourself, brakes are pretty easy to work on.

Find a local VW / Audi shop. It shouldn't cost that much just for pads. I could see pads and rotors. I had new ceramic pads that cost me about 400 installed and they charged me 2 hours for labor.

I know some people had squeaky brakes causing them to change them at <20k miles, but I don't think I've heard of the low pad warning coming on so soon. Do you track your car? I'm at 42,500 and the light has never come on. No track days, but I don't take it easy on them either.

I replaced my S6 OEM pads with Disc Italia Hyper Ceramics for $500 all-in. $320 for the pads from Brakeworld, and ~2 hours of labor at my local Audi shop (non-dealer). Your quote, assuming it's just pads and not rotors, seems excessive.

$1200 was my quote from the dealer for new front pads and rotors, installed. If it's the same price but you are getting a discount on part of it i would look into it to see how they broke the cost down.

I also replaced the pads with the Dis Italia, and did it without using the dampening vibration kit which is like 200 plus dollars. I noticed absolutely no difference in "dampening" just a lot less dust and super quite.
