Left over spacer block from windshield install causing water ingress?

Water is seeping in between the cowl and the windshield and pooling behind what looks to be cork spacer blocks and dripping directly into the cabin air filter / passenger footwell. The windshield was repaired by the previous owner less than 5k miles ago and my assumption is that these were mistakenly left behind? They seem to be blocking what I think is a rain tray assuming any water seeps past the cowl. I've ordered new left and right windshield cowls, cabin air filter & housing to provide a better seal. Can I remove these cork spacers? Any other ideas on how to improve this leaky area?

Your probably missing the plastic gutter that runs under that seam. Also, the cork is not OEM, it was probably put there by the glass guy so the windshield wouldnt sag down.

I'm with mac on this, the cork was there just for the adhesive to cure and the window not slide down. Dig it out of there, you don't need it now that the adhesive is dried.

You are missing the drain tray. Without it it will leak like that.

I removed the drain tray / plastic gutter (left and right cowl) for the images. Thanks for the confirmation on the cork bits being leftovers from the windshield install.
